NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT Dear Friend,
This week started rough with severe storms and tornadoes throughout the district. Unfortunately, we’re getting a second wave of storms today. Please use caution. I pray that we get through this with little damage. Here are some positive news stories to help boost your spirit -
By participating in this survey, you agree to receive additional communications from Congressman Dunn's office. Last week, I joined the House Energy & Commerce Committee in a virtual meeting to discuss the next COVID-19 relief package. In my opening remarks, I took a moment to recognize a couple that has faced three major disasters: Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Michael, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these setbacks, Jan and Trudy White persevered and will soon open their newest location of “Dat Cajun Place.” Part of the reason the Whites have been successful in keeping the doors open is because they’ve taken advantage of the Paycheck Protection Program and other relief during this pandemic. They are proof that these programs are beneficial and that small business owners need targeted, effective COVID-19 relief. Congress must always keep constituents like Jan and Trudy at the forefront of our minds. Watch my opening remarks here. |
Millions are without power in Louisiana following a crippling winter storm. Tallahassee lineman and others from the state of Florida have wasted no time in coming to our neighbors’ rescue. Our linemen truly are modern-day superheroes. Thank you to all of those who are heading West! Read more here.

The University of Florida may be outside of our district, but this news is too good not to share. University of Florida Health has taken another step forward in the fight against COVID-19. The hospital is one of only a few hospitals in the country to perform double-lung transplants on patients suffering from COVID-19 related lung failure. They are currently experiencing an influx in referrals and people are traveling from across the nation for this life-saving procedure. Well done! Read more here.
As we continue taking measures to combat COVID-19, maintaining your mental health may become more difficult. I encourage you to visit this page if you are experiencing anxiousness or hopelessness.
Thank you for subscribing to my good news newsletter – I look forward to bringing you more next week. You can follow me on Facebook and Twitter for more positive news and real-time updates.
Sincerely,
Neal Dunn Member of Congress
