A good Email friend Mairi D’s sister was in a horrific car accident. She has multiple injuries and she’s fighting for her life. The family can’t even be allowed to visit her.
Just wanted to let you know that my sister "Mary Lynn" (the fourth of the seven Mary's) was in a SEVERE car accident yesterday evening. She is fighting for her life.
She was T-boned in the driver's side, and has massive injuries.
She was in surgery for hours yesterday, and they have discovered more injuries today, but she is just too critical to assess all of her injuries yet.
So far, we know: her brain is bleeding; she ruptured her spleen, it was pushed up so far behind her heart, it tore the pericardium, and she had to have open heart surgery yesterday; her kidneys are failing, she's on dialysis; her ribs are broken; her pelvis is shattered, and they cannot even try to repair that now; her blood won't clot, so they are pumping massive amounts of blood products into her to try to get it clotting.Her diaphragm was punctured, so she may not be able to speak, she cannot now.
PLEASE Pray for her! If she survives....PLEASE Lord, let her survive.....the road to recovery will be HARROWING.
They know she still has internal bleeding, they are going to attempt another surgical intervention to try to stop it tomorrow.
It's been a long and sleepless night. She is one of my three sisters in Arizona, and they are 2 hours behind Chicago. Updates are slow coming, they are trying to let her build some strength. No one can be there with her....my next oldest sister to her (Mary Sue), is a HIGHLY credentialed nurse. She has so many letters behind her name, you just can't imagine. She is Mary Lynn's Medical Power of Attorney on top of all those credentials, and they won't even let her in.....
Mary Lynn will be in a medically induced coma for now, HOPEFULLY, while she is in that coma, she is getting some pain relief....
Just wanted to let you both know....I LOVE you two...you are my "Sisters of the Heart".
