It’s Not Easy Being Red and Green

The Islamists do not need to understand the left. All they need to do is go on using it.

The left has never adapted to the transition from nationalistic wars to ideological wars. It took the left a while to grasp that the Nazis were a fundamentally different foe than the Kaiser and that pretending that World War 2 was another war for the benefit of colonialists and arms dealers was the behavior of deluded lunatics. And yet much of the left insisted on approaching the war in just that fashion, and had Hitler not attacked Stalin, it might have remained stuck there.

The Cold War was even worse. The moderate left never came to terms with Communism. From the Moscow Trials to the fall of the Berlin Wall, the left slowly disavowed the USSR, but refused to see it as anything more than a clumsy dictatorship. The only way that the left could reject the USSR was by overlooking its ideology and treating it as another backward Russian tyranny being needlessly provoked and pushed around by Western Europe and the United States.

Ah, The Left Admits Where The Problem Lies!

Oh folks, now they’ve gone and done it – but you’re going to have to read very carefully for content to catch it.  Incidentally, if you wait long enough folks of political persuasion, when they’re BSing you, will usually do this — patience is a virtue! Liberals talk about booming incomes at the top while lower-income households barely see benefits from economic growth. Conservatives talk about a rising share of the population that depends on government benefits and a shrinking share that pays income tax. Though the frames are different, these are descriptions of the same economic phenomenon: rising inequality of pre-tax incomes. But only liberals are advancing a semblance of an agenda to address it. The main liberal reaction to this phenomenon is to call for more progressive fiscal policy: higher taxes on the rich people who have benefited most from the last 30 years’ gains in gross domestic product to pay for programs that raise low- and middle-income people’s after-tax incomes. Ah, yes, the old argument that “the rich” benefited so much. There’s one problem with that, of course — when someone becomes rich (or richer) they tend to buy things with the money, directly and indirectly.  This in turn tends to boost economic activity (someone has to build the yacht, Lear Jet, etc) in the general case. This is the premise the right tries to advance, and there’s a clean logical argument for it. So why does the claimed disparity advance (and it does) if wealth is of no value simply in accumulation, but rather only is of value to a person when used in some form or fashion? That’s the $64,000 question, and our author here unfortunately blows his own argument’s brains out when he pinpoints what I’ve been saying now for years:

THE TIME HAS COME TO FORGET PARTISAN POLITICS, STOP “TALKING” AND START WORKING FOR OUR COMMON INTERESTS

 

In the coming days the winners and losers of the local races will be proclaimed, but when it comes to McSally, Barber, Dupnik or Napier, and issues like Proposition 409, my conclusion is simple: we will never know  who really won, and lost, the Election of 2012.

 

YOU would conclude the same thing if you witnessed what I saw in Pima County Court on November 01, 2012, while most of YOU were still bawling obscenities at Obama, Romney, Barber, McSally, etc., or were otherwise consuming terabytes of blogosphere calling left wingers “traitors” or plotting to “take our country back,” etc.

 

However, the time has come to “listen up.”

UNION DUPLICITY CONDONED BY POLITICIANS OF THE LEFT!

...Great if you're a union boss who gets "bullshi--" contracts and increased dues. And great if you're a politician whose campaign is funded by union PACs.
