ILLINOIS DREAM ACT TO BECOME LAW TODAY Today Illinois Governor Pat Quinn will sign the Illinois Dream Act into law further turning Illinois into one of the most tolerant and supportive sanctuary states in the country. The Illinois Dream Act will allow the children of illegal immigrants to receive scholarships at private colleges and enroll in state college savings programs. To qualify, students must have attended high school in Illinois for at least three years. This takes Illinois’ sanctuary state status one step further following Quinn’s announcement in May that Illinois would be the first to refuse participation in the Secure Communities program by no longer providing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) any information on the arrests of illegal immigrants.
