On Thursday, I released a statement ahead of the Senate’s passage of the Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2021 . The core of the PACT Act includes key provisions from my Presumptive Benefits for War Fighters Exposed to Burn Pits and Other Toxins Act , which I introduced with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) last year. On Thursday, I applauded the Senate’s passage of legislation that Senator Warner (D-VA) and I introduced, the Joint Consolidation Loan Separation Act of 2021 . The bill would provide much-needed relief for individuals who previously consolidated their student loan debt with their spouse. Read more here

On Wednesday, I sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding the violent left-wing group Jane’s Revenge and its declaration of “open season” for attacks against pro-life pregnancy centers and organizations. Read more here 



On Thursday, Senator Jim Risch (R-ID) and I sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to immediately increase U.S. and international pressure to compel the Maduro regime to free all political prisoners and conduct free and fair elections in Venezuela. Read more here 



On Wednesday, I sent a letter to Dr. Lawrence Bacow, President of Harvard University, regarding a potential quid pro quo agreement in which officials from the real estate company, Evergrande, which has close ties to the Chinese Communist Party, donated $115 million to Harvard Medical School in exchange for access to influential American virology experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, who were studying the origins of COVID-19. On Tuesday, Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) and I, along with our colleagues, applauded the Senate’s unanimous passage of our resolution recognizing May as Stroke Awareness Month. Read more here 



On Tuesday, Senators Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Jim Risch (R-ID), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Ben Cardin (D-MD), Ted Cruz (R-TX), and I issued a joint statement on the continued politicization of Bolivia’s judiciary following the arbitrary sentencing of former Interim President Jeanine Áñez by a court in La Paz. On Monday, I sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas requesting that they direct the U.S. National Central Bureau, the agency responsible for U.S. cooperation with Interpol, to immediately submit a request to publish a red notice for the provisional arrest and extradition of narco-dictator Nicolás Maduro. Last Thursday, I joined Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) and bicameral colleagues in sending a follow-up letter to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Inspector General Joseph Cuffari requesting a comprehensive investigation of the Biden Administration’s decisions at the southern border. Legislation Introduced

  • On Tuesday, Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) and I  introduced the Defending Domestic Orange Juice Production Act . The legislation would direct the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to lower the required level of sugar/solids content (brix standard) in not-from-concentrate pasteurized orange juice from 10.5 percent weight of orange juice soluble solids to 10 percent.   • On Tuesday, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) and I introduced the FOIA Fix Act . The bill would fix an existing loophole in the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) that allows foreign individuals, entities, and governments to submit a FOIA request. Read more here 

  • On Wednesday, Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) and I introduced the China Oil Export Prohibition Act . The bill would prohibit the exportation of oil and petroleum products from the United States to the Peoples’ Republic of China and ensure we do not unwittingly aid and support our primary adversary.   • On Wednesday, Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and I introduced a resolution commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association. Read more here .

  • On Wednesday, Senator John Thune (R-SD) and I, along with our colleagues, introduced the Political Bias in Algorithm Sorting (BIAS) Emails Act . This legislation would ban large email platforms, such as Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo Mail, from using filtering algorithms that automatically label emails from political campaigns as spam, unless users choose to apply the labels themselves.
