The First take: We will always favor diplomacy over violence. That said, we wonder if this "summit" was not the endgame established long before this weekend's work by France's Macron. Biden gets a needed public relations win, Putin will get "something" and France gets paid back after we screwed them out of a multi-billion dollar submarine deal with Australia last year.
