NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT

Dear Friend,

This week, Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats ignored our current economic crisis and voted in favor of allowing another $2.5 TRILLION to be spent on the Left’s radical agenda. This comes as many are grappling with the highest inflation in 40 years. To add to this, many are losing their jobs due to unnecessary vaccine mandates.

Constituents are having to choose between putting food on their tables, affording gas to get to important medical appointments, or paying their high electricity bills. No one should have to live like this.

The Democrats’ irresponsible spending is hurting hardworking Americans. The out-of-touch liberals may not see it, but I do. I’ve heard how real this is for all of you. This holiday season should be joyful, not stressful. Washington cannot continue to run the country like this. It’s time to put an end to this reckless spending.

Visiting the Brian Rust Show

Image

I had a great time chatting with Brian Rust and answering your questions in the studio on Thursday morning! We discussed the bills Congress passed in the last month, inflation, and immunity testing.

If you missed the episode, or if you want to listen again, visit The Brian Rust Show page here.  You can also listen to Brian’s show weekdays on NewsTalk 101 Panama City.

Additional Hurricane Michael Funding

Image

On Thursday, I joined Governor Ron DeSantis, CFO Jimmy Patronis, and local leadership at a press conference in Washington County. The Governor announced $12 million for communities impacted by Hurricane Michael, including Washington, Holmes, Gulf, Bay, and Jackson Counties.

In Washington County, the Governor announced that more than $8.8 million has been awarded for 32 projects in 7 different counties through the Department of Economic Opportunity’s (DEO) Rebuild Florida Hazard Mitigation Grant Match Program. The program provides the 25 percent funding match that communities need in order to receive FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Funds. Without the DEO Hazard Mitigation Grant Match Program, many of the communities throughout our district would not be able to afford the match funding needed. This is an excellent Christmas present for our district as we continue to recover.

Thank you all for letting me join you! It's always a pleasure visiting Washington County.

Avery Roberts School of Public Service Dedication

Image

This past week, Florida Gateway College Foundation dedicated a school on the FGC Olustee Campus to longtime supporters Avery and Twyla Roberts. The Avery and Twyla Roberts School of Public Service offers a corrections academy, police academy, courses for EMS and paramedics, firefighters, criminal justice, as well as CDL training.

Congratulations, Avery and Twyla! This honor is well-deserved!

Coronavirus Updates
Get Vaccinated

I encourage you to schedule an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine. The State of Florida has partnered with Sharecare to provide an easy-to-use platform that will save your spot for your shot. Schedule your appointment here. Florida has many sites providing the COVID-19 vaccine. Use the vaccine finder to find a site near you. Supplies are limited and appointments may be required.

The Pfizer vaccine is authorized for persons aged 12 and up. The Moderna and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccines are authorized for persons aged 18 and up.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration recently announced the authorization of single booster doses for the Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen vaccines. You can find more information about the boosters here.

Please consult your doctor before getting a COVID-19 vaccine or booster.

Monoclonal antibody treatments

Early monoclonal antibody treatment saves lives. Antibodies help the immune system recognize and respond effectively to the virus. According to the treatment guidelines, monoclonal antibody therapy should be administered as soon as possible after diagnosis. Referrals are not required at any of the State of Florida monoclonal antibody treatment sites and treatment is available at no cost to patients

If you or someone you know has tested positive for COVID-19, visit this link to find locations to receive monoclonal antibody treatment. For more information about the treatments, click here.

Thank you for your continued energy and enthusiasm, as reflected in your letters and Facebook posts. If you haven’t already, LIKE my Facebook page. You can also follow me on Twitter @DrNealDunnFL2.

Constituent Casework Corner

A constituent contacted my office after filing their Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (I-485), with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and not receiving any updates. They filed nearly two years prior and completed all the requirements, but the lack of updates prevented them from working. We were able to work with USCIS to have the application reviewed and their Permanent Resident Card, commonly referred to as a Green Card, issued.
