What follows is Part II of my conversation with Founding Father Patrick Henry. How special to have such a conversation, and learn facts about a most sensational period in time – the coming together of thirteen colonies into an exceptional nation founded upon the Judeo-Christian principles outlined in our founding documents. We already heard in Part I some incredible little known facts, like Patrick Henry dating then marrying the girlfriend of Naval hero John Paul Jones, and Patrick Henry’s famous speech of “Give me Liberty…or give me Death.”
My conversation with Patrick Henry reinforced the fact that our Founding Fathers were not perfect men, they were men who were perfectly chosen to perform some incredible feats, like build a nation and government free from tyrannical rule and based on Judeo-Christian principles outlined in the Bible. These men, especially the 56-Signers of The Declaration of Independence, pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to accomplish what had never been done before; namely, create a country without a king, create a government of and by the people not by a monarch or ruling class, and give all citizens the privilege of free speech, free assembly, freedom to bear arms for self-defense against any government that would impose itself unjustly. ARIZONA TODAY is pleased to continue this conversation for several series with Patrick Henry.
