SHORT DAILY DEVOTIONS 06/03/2021

Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts

And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”

Isaiah 6:3 ESV

In Hebrew, when a word repeats, it intensifies its meaning.

In English, “holy, holy, holy” means something like, “holy… holier… holiest…”

Creatures called “seraphim” worship God continually. (Literally translated, seraph means “burning one.”)

“Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD of Hosts”

Burning celestial beings shout God’s praises and call him the “LORD of hosts.” This means God is the commander, ruler, and eternal king of the both earthly and heavenly armies.

Wow! How incredible is this scene?

It’s vital we remember who our God is — and where he is.

He’s in heaven, seated on the throne of ultimate power being worshiped 24/7 by burning, six-winged angels.

Do we hold on to the awe and reverence we should?

Are we excited by God’s absolute glory?

“The Whole Earth is Full of His Glory!”

In this passage, “glory” means his actual presence with his people.

Did you know God’s presence is with you right now?

What can stand against you?

Who can defeat you?

Where is God’s path for his Church stopped?

Nothing, no one, and nowhere!

Humble and Excited Servants

Let’s be humble and excited servants of our King today.

Isaiah’s vision of God’s glory empowers me to share the Gospel no matter what.

Why?

Because our God’s presence is the greatest thing in the universe humans can encounter.

We’re quick to tell friends about a great new movie or restaurant.

How quick are we to tell them about Jesus?

The key to sharing the Gospel is experiencing God himself.

We share freely about splendid places and events in our lives because they affected us. Our experiences drive our desire to share.

Do you seek to experience God?

Start right now by joining in the seraphim’s song:

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is filled with his glory!”
