NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT

Dear Friend,

This past week, additional details about the origins of the COVID-19 virus have been released supporting suspicions Republicans have had since the beginning of the pandemic.

It is possible that the COVID-19 virus started as an accidental lab leak, and I think this is grounds for an in-depth investigation. America lost so many to this virus, and if there is a blatant cover-up, those responsible must be held accountable. President Biden, Speaker Pelosi, and House Democrats must put politics aside to find the truth. The American people deserve answers.

In addition to this news, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody announced that Florida will join 22 states in an amended complaint to block Biden’s unconstitutional and unlawful attempt to cancel the Keystone Pipeline. Companies in our district have been directly impacted by the cancellation, and many have either lost their jobs or have had their hours cut. Because of this, I began conversations with AG Moody urging her to take action on behalf of my constituents that were affected. AG Moody is making the right decision in joining this lawsuit and I commend her for the effort.

Protecting the 2nd Amendment & Small Businesses

Image

I recently stopped by Kevin’s Sporting Goods in Tallahassee to check in and see how business is going. Businesses like this one face a great deal of uncertainty — and I’m not talking about the pandemic.

President Biden’s plan to limit your right to bear arms and recent nomination for the head of the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) bureau, gun control activist David Chipman, are a huge threat to businesses like Kevin’s Sporting Goods. They are also a threat to your constitutional rights.

I take protecting our Constitution and your rights very seriously, and I will continue to fight back against the Left’s radical agenda.

Fighting Biden Administration’s Job-Killing Policies

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody recently announced that she will be joining attorneys general from 22 states in an amended complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas to block Biden’s unconstitutional and unlawful attempt to cancel the Keystone Pipeline.

Shutting down the Keystone XL project was a huge mistake. While the pipeline project is over a thousand miles away, the impact is now in our backyards as Floridians in the 2nd District have lost their jobs because of the Biden Administration’s decision. I’m grateful that Attorney General Moody is joining the Keystone XL lawsuit to preserve Florida’s wide array of opportunities and fight back against the Biden Administration’s job killing-policies.

What’s Happening on Capitol Hill
We Must Hold China Accountable

Image

As we approach the 18-month mark since COVID-19 emerged in Wuhan, China, House Democrats still have not held a single hearing on the origins of the virus. There is mounting evidence the pandemic started in a Chinese lab, and China covered it up. If that is the case, China is responsible for the deaths of nearly 600,000 Americans and millions worldwide.

My Republican colleagues and I sent a letter urging Speaker Pelosi to call on congressional committees to investigate the origins of COVID-19. China must be held accountable. We deserve answers.

Constituent Casework Corner

A constituent contacted my office because they did not receive Economic Impact Payment (EIP) 1 or 2 for their minor child. They could not get an answer from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as to why it was not included in their tax refund. After requesting that the IRS review the constituent’s return, they determined an error had been made and released both EIPs for the minor child.
