Rockets target US troops in Iraq, still no briefing on Syria bombing run

Headline: 10 rockets strike Iraqi base hosting US troops

The First take: Overnight, at least 10 rockets targeted a base in Iraq housing US and coalition troops. We can only assume they are a response to the administration's bombing in Syria last week. As details are slowly coming out about last night's attack, we also hear reports the president has yet to brief top members of the Senate on last week's air strike against suspected Hezbollah militia members in Syria. Talk to us, Joe. Come on man.

National Guard troops at the Capitol sickened by undercooked food

Headline: Over A Dozen Soldiers Stationed At Capitol Are Sick After Provided With Undercooked Food: Report

The First take: The thousands of National Guard troops stationed in DC have suffered the indignity of being forced to take their breaks in a cold parking garage beneath the Capitol building they protect. Now comes word that dozens of the men and women still guarding "Fort Pelosi" have been sickened by undercooked food. Can we please end this madness, remove the fences and send the troops home? For once, we actually find ourselves agreeing with Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton who has also led the chorus of calls for Nancy Pelosi to open up the District of Columbia. (See the bonus story below.)

The First take: Think of all the time we could have saved had the "Cancel Culture" crew had thought to do a little investigative work into the life of Dr. Seuss before they decided the author needed to be branded as a racist and have his reputation trashed and books isolated. As Dr. Seuss would have told us, "Oh, the places you'll go" (if you LOOK before you LEAP).

Headline: Boehner book jacket teases slams against Cruz, Trump

The First take: We're guessing Boehner's mom never taught him, "If you don't have anything nice to say about someone, just say nothing." After reviewing a few of the stinging quotes on the back cover slamming everyone from Nancy Pelosi to Ted Cruz and the cafeteria lunch ladies, we might suggest a title change from "On the House" to "Taking No Prisoners."
