Claim: Swalwell falsified evidence presented during impeachment trial

HeadlineImpeachment blunder: Author of tweet introduced at trial says it was falsified, misinterpreted

What's Up: House impeachment manager Rep. Eric Swalwell is accused of twice altering a tweet he used as evidence in the Democrats' final day of making their case to convict Donald Trump. In one instance on Thursday Swalwell is said to have added a "blue check mark" signifying the author's credibility. And, the second issue was with the changing of a word.

Quote: "Lawrence, a Christian conservative activist and former Breitbart writer, said her tweet on Jan. 3 carefully chose the religious word 'Calvary' — which means a public display of Christ's crucifixion — as a reference to a prayer vigil they were hosting in Washington, and Swalwell distorted it to convey she was organizing a military cavalry, which is spelled differently and means a military brigade on horses. — JustTheNews.com

The First take: Here again is more proof of the difference between a regular trial and a Senate impeachment trial. The defense in a real trial would have been allowed to object and question the credibility of the evidence as well as the motives of the attorney presenting falsified and altered documents.

NY Gov's aide admits to hiding nursing home COVID data from feds

HeadlineCuomo aide admits they hid nursing home data so feds wouldn’t find out

What's Up: After almost a year of stalling and sidestepping requests for data on NY Gov Cuomo's disastrous and deadly COVID-19 nursing home policy, we are finally getting the truth. In addition to the increase in the numbers of deaths associated with Cuomo's orders, we are learning of a conscious effort to hide the information from federal agencies.

Quote: "Assemblyman Ron Kim (D-Queens), who took part in the call, told The Post on Thursday that DeRosa’s remarks sounded 'like they admitted that they were trying to dodge having any incriminating evidence that might put the administration or the [Health Department] in further trouble with the Department of Justice.'" — NYPost.com

The First take: A year ago, Gov Cuomo was glorified by the media for his response to the pandemic. The daily press events eventually lead to an Emmy Award and a book deal for the governor. We hope this news turns the media's deification into vilification. We also support an investigation into possible criminal charges for the coverup.

Nikki Haley splits with Trump over treatment of Mike Pence

HeadlineNikki Haley Rips Trump Over Jan. 6: ‘I’m Disgusted’ By Treatment Of Pence, Trump ‘Let Us Down’

What's Up: In a just-released interview with Politico, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley delivered a strong rebuke of ex-President Trump and his conduct on January 6.

Quote: "'We need to acknowledge he let us down,' Haley said. 'He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again.'" — DailyWire.com.com

The First take: By saying, "We can't let the ever happen again." Haley appears to indicate she might support conviction. We recognize Nikki Haley's right to her opinion. But, we wonder why she has chosen the day before Donald Trump's legal team starts to present its defense to make such a public declaration. Could it be the former UN Ambassador is beginning a 2024 campaign? Haley has often been said to have "Presidential timber." Keep an eye on this.

Twitter suspends O'Keefe, Project Veritas until Tweets are deleted

HeadlineJames O’Keefe And Project Veritas Suspended From Twitter, Forced To Delete Tweets

What's Up: Investigative reporter and Project Veritas head James O'Keefe had his personal and professional Twitter accounts shut down until tweets linking to a YouTube video confronting a Facebook official were deleted.

Quote: "In the video, Rosen’s home address number is briefly visible. Project Veritas does not share [Guy] Rosen’s street name, city, state, or zip code." — DailyCaller.com

The First take: We won't support doxxing of anyone by any entity. That said, we see Twitter and the rest of the big tech/social media overlords tightening the rules on people who don't share their beliefs, while looking the other way for people they agree with. (See Gina Carano story below)
