GOOD NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT

Dear friend,

Focusing on the positive is good for your health. I encourage you to dedicate some time this weekend to reflect on one good thing that happened this week – whether big or small. Here are a few good news stories to get the ball rolling:
Hard work and perseverance pays off! After escaping a country he described as “corrupt,” a local first responder, Liman “Joe” Mahmud said it feels great to finally be an American. Joe officially received his citizenship on July 23rd. You can read the full story here.

New artificial reefs have made their way to Wakulla and Franklin counties. The Organization for Artificial Reefs submerged more than 310 tons of materials near mile marker 24, nine miles south of the Ochlocknee Bay. The materials consisted of repurposed concrete slabs and culverts, which were the remains of the recently renovated Port Panacea dock. You can read the full story here.

With thousands of college students returning to Tallahassee, local universities have partnered with community leaders to encourage students and individuals to pledge to stay healthy and keep our community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers say the pledge initiative aims to promote a safer environment and practice healthier living habits. You can read the full story here.
