NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT

Dear Friend,
As we continue through this pandemic, it’d important to share good news to remind us that even though times seem harsh, there is still good going on each day. I would like to first start with a write-in story shared by a constituent.

Programs that work to develop our children are crucial to their growth into successful adults. Despite this uncertain time, children still need our help and many organizations are continuing to prioritize young people’s development by recognizing their potential. This past week, Girl’s Inc. of Bay County celebrated Girl’s Inc. Week by hosting a parade to honor their Girls of the Year. Girls Inc. is a development organization focused on supporting, mentoring, and guiding girls in an affirming environment. You can read the full story here.

Those combatting the effects of the coronavirus deserve everything we can give them. Today, May 15th, we honor our essential personnel working on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19. In Panama City, Tyndall Air Force Base hosted a flyover for health care professionals and first responders. In Tallahassee, Moody Air Force Base honored the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare staff by hosting a flyover over the hospital. You can read the full story here.

Though many events have been cancelled or postponed, the Wausau Possum Festival lives on. As it turns out, the Wausau Possum Festival was only playing possum and will move to being hosted online this year. As you know, the Wausau Possum Festival is an annual tradition that brings the community together to raise funds, sell merchandise, and endorse comradery amongst the community. I look forward to tuning in and so should you! You can read the full story here

We look forward to hearing from you and greatly value your input.

Maintaining your mental health may become more difficult in the upcoming weeks. I encourage you to visit this page if you are experiencing anxiousness or hopelessness.
