NORTH KOREAN THREAT RISES AGAIN
Predictably, it didn’t take long for NK to get back on the path to nuclear and missile provocation after a short period in which China was able to suppress the North’s belligerent actions, though not the angry rhetoric. With NK’s successful missile test of a two-stage intermediate range ballistic missile this week, Trump’s patience with the saber rattling of Kim Jong-un is wearing thin, and so is his confidence in China’s promise to reign in Kim’s nuclear and missile ambitions. But that hasn’t stopped Russia and China from calling for yet more “diplomatic negotiations” and warning Trump against taking any rash military action—in spite of the fact that Kim effectively foreclosed the possibility of further diplomatic progress by saying that NK would never negotiate away his nuclear or missile programs. This week I’ll discuss where that leaves Trump, who is sounding both determined and ambivalent at various times. Washington Post -- July 12, 2017 DHS's Kelly tells Hispanic caucus DACA might not survive court challenge
Homeland Security Secretary John F. Kelly told the Congressional Hispanic Caucus in a closed-door meeting Wednesday that an initiative that grants work permits to more than 800,000 undocumented immigrants may not survive a looming legal challenge.
Kelly declined to take questions after the meeting, but his spokesman said the secretary told the members that the Obama-era program, which shields immigrants brought to the United States as children, is at risk.
“This is what he's being told by different attorneys, that if it goes to court it might not survive,” DHS spokesman David Lapan said. If Congress does not pass a bill to protect the program, he added, “they're leaving it in the hands of the courts to make a decision.”
Kelly's meeting with the caucus came nearly two weeks after officials from Texas and 10 other states warned Attorney General Jeff Sessions that they would sue the federal government if it does not rescind Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program by Sept. 5.
The officials also want Homeland Security to gradually “phase out” the program by refusing to renew the two-year permits or issue new ones.

DACA -- Fraud from the sound of the starter's pistol
When Barack Obama announced the DACA program in August of 2012, there was an immediate surge across the Arizona border. About a month later, American Patrol Report argued that failure of the Republican Party to say the surge was due to Obama's DACA program would amount to "political malpractice.”
Since 2012, 788,000 people have qualified under DACA.
This means that the Obama Administration interviewed about 750,000 people and determined that each qualified for a temporary legal status.
To make this determination, the administration had to find that the applicant: 1. Came to the United States before his/her 16th birthday; 2. Lived in the U.S. since 15 June, 2012; Were under the age of 31 on 15 June, 2012; 3. Were physically present in the U.S. on 15 June, 2012; 4. Had no lawful status on 15 June, 2012; 5. Completed High School or a GED, are enrolled in school, or were discharged from the military; and, 6. Have not been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanors, or three or more other misdemeanors, and do not represent a threat to national security or public safety.
One of the conditions of DACA is that the applicant “Had no legal status on 15 June, 2012."
This difficult to establish, given that illegal aliens are also described as "undocumented.”
