CHUCK MUTH'S NEWS & VIEWS 05/21/2016

MUTH’S TRUTHS

A friend sent me a copy of a letter supposedly sent to the Republican National Committee which goes a long way towards explaining why so many people are supporting Donald Trump for president.

I’ve excerpted portions of the letter below…

“You've been on vacation for two weeks, you come home, and your basement is infested with raccoons. Dozens of rabid, messy, mean raccoons have overtaken your basement. You want them gone immediately.

“You call the city and 4 different exterminators but nobody can handle the job. But there is this one guy, and he guarantees he’ll get rid of them.  So you hire him.

“You don't care if the guy smells.  You don't care if the guy swears.  You don't care if he's an alcoholic.  You don't care how many times he's been married.  You don't care if he voted for Obama.  You don't care if he has plumber's crack.  You simply want those raccoons gone!  You want your problem fixed!  He's the guy. Period

“Yes, Donald Trump is a bit of an ass.  And yes he's an egomaniac.  But we don't care. The country is a mess because politicians suck.  The Republican Party is two-faced and gutless and illegals are everywhere.  We want it all fixed!

“We don't care that Trump is crude.  We don't care that he insults people.  We don't care that he had been friendly with Hillary.  We don't care that he has changed positions.  We don't care that he's been married 3 times.  We don't care that he fights with Megan Kelly and Rosie O'Donnell.  We don't care that he doesn't know the name of some Muslim terrorist.

“WE JUST WANT IT FIXED.

“Trump may not be a saint, but he doesn't have political correctness restraining him.  All we know is that he has been very successful and a good negotiator.  He has built a lot of things and he's also not a cowardly politician.  He says he'll fix it and we believe him because he is too much of an egotist to be proven wrong or looked at and called a liar.

“Also we don't care if the guy has bad hair.  We just want those raccoons gone.  Out of our house.  NOW.”

Oh, plus…Never Hillary.

Cheers.

P.S.  I will never understand the “logic” in which the government bans a teenager from sitting at a bar next to her father and having a crabcake and a Coke while watching the Baltimore Orioles play the California Angels on TV but is allowed to sit at a pub table not four feet behind those same bar stools.  #Big Government Sucks.

NATIONAL NEWS & VIEWS

Apparently House Speaker Paul Ryan and the Obama administration have reached a compromise on the Puerto Rico bailout that has satisfied some conservatives, but far from all.

The biggest concern seems to be that the compromise plan puts greater emphasis on protecting overly-generous government employee pensions over repaying bondholders.  Here are two stories on this ongoing brouhaha…
