Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Warns of Iran’s Interference with Arab Countries

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Adel Al-Jubeir stated on Monday that Iran has been blatantly interfering in the internal affairs of several Arab countries. While on a trip to Berlin, Al-Jubeir commented that Iran was continuing to interfere with Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen during a joint press conference held with German foreign minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Despite the Iran nuclear deal that was signed with the six world powers – China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, United States and Germany – in July, Al-Jubeir stated that Iran will go ahead and manufacture nuclear weapons according to a news report in the Saudi Gazette. The Saudi foreign minister said he based his belief upon the fact that Tehran has consistently refused to allow nuclear inspectors to visit some of its military installations. “The Kingdom is closely monitoring Iran’s quest for uranium enrichment,” Al Jubeir remarked. The Saudi Gazette also reported in an article last month that Prince Bandar Bin Sultan, a former head of the Kingdom’s intelligence services, had written a newspaper opinion piece where he related his assessment of the nuclear deal, stressing that the Iran deal would allow it to “wreak havoc in the region.” [...]

China Jolts World Markets with Yuan Devaluation
China’s central bank announced they devalued the country’s currency by 2%, causing the biggest one day loss in the currency trade for the Yuan in decades and showing the second-largest economy in the world continues to struggle. The move is causing major concern among traders around the world that other nations will begin to devalue their currencies in an attempt to gain advantage in a slower trade market. “In terms of competitive forces, this raises the stakes. This isn’t a war per se but about maintaining competitiveness. A lot of significant emerging markets have been using this valve,” said Andre da Silva, global head of interest rate strategy at HSBC Holdings, referring to currency devaluations. “The yuan exchange rate will be more market-oriented going forward,” Zhou Hao, an economist at Commerzbank in Singapore, wrote in a report. “Volatility of both the onshore and offshore rates will pick up significantly.” The move by China caused the Dow Jones Industrial Average to fall over 200 points. Apple fell more than 4 percent and Caterpillar fell more than 3.5 percent because of the Yuan’s impact on the profits of those multinational corporations. Environmental Protection Agency Admits Toxic Sludge Will Contaminate Water into Mexico
The head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is admitting the toxic sludge released into the Animas River by an EPA work crew is going to pollute rivers all the way into Mexico. EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy admitted waters will be polluted into Utah, New Mexico, the Navajo Nation reservation and into Mexico. McCarthy said at a press conference they would use the “full breadth of the agency” to try and clean up their spill. “We’re working around the clock,” McCarthy said. “It pains me to no end to see this happening.” While they admitted they are the source of the leak, EPA official say they still don’t know exactly what happened to cause the toxic waste to reach the river. An accidental wastewater spill from an abandoned mine in Colorado that turned the Animas River orange last week is actually three times worse than previously thought, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials announced. Now, local officials in towns downstream from the spill say they want answers about how much of a lasting impact the environmental disaster will have on their drinking water. The agency on Thursday estimated that a million gallons of highly acidic mine wastewater were released from an abandoned mine that contaminated the Animas River in La Plata County, Colorado. But after using a stream gauge from the U.S. Geological Survey, the EPA now says that real figure is actually 3 million gallons of wastewater.

And the world is totally controlled by corporations, and all anyone wants to do is watch/play the ultraviolent new sport Rollerball - sort of a blend of roller derby and rugby. Coincidentally it is also the name of the movie! James Caan stars as Jonathan E, a massively popular player and captain of the Houston team. For reasons unknown he is asked by a corporate head to retire early, and his refusal to quit the game he loves throws him into unexpected peril as he slowly realizes how corporations have been manipulating the populace for years.
With a title like Rollerball and a death sport that's replaced warfare, I don't think I was wrong in expecting something a little different from this film. It sounds like an action-heavy futuristic thriller, and in some ways it is, but more of the focus is on Jonathan E's slow search for the truth and certain realizations about his own life. This vision of the future is somewhat Orwellian, highly stratified and full of intentional misinformation. We learn bits and pieces about its inner workings, how corporate executives can just take other people's wives if they want, how only certain people can access certain knowledge. Caan is solid as the strong-willed, but surprisingly naive Jonathan E, a man feared by his evil overlords for his potential to stand out and lead in a world order maintained by erasing any emphasis on the individual.
