LIFE NEWS 01/16/2014

Birmingham, Alabama Abortion-Free for Now as Planned Parenthood Closes Birmingham, Alabama is abortion free for now, as the sole abortion clinic there, run by Planned Parenthood, has temporarily closed. If it stays closed this is the second closure of an abortion clinic in 2014.
Local pro-life activist Fr. Terry Gensemer of CEC For Life tells LifeNews that sidewalk counselors report that the facility does not appear to have performed abortions since before Christmas. One counselor confirms that she has only seen a handful of patients show up in the past four weeks, none of which stayed long enough to have an abortion. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/01/16/birmingham-alabama-abortion-free-for-now-as-planned-parenthood-closes/
Middle School Under Fire for Classroom Poster Listing Sex ActsThe abortion industry is targeting schoolchildren more frequently with sex education than ever before — something not surprising given that studies show sex education campaigns lead to young women eventually purchasing abortions.
But the father of a 13-year-old girl in Kansas is upset and says one campaign has gone too far — by putting a poster in his daughter’s classroom that lists explicit sexual acts. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/01/16/middle-school-under-fire-for-classroom-poster-listing-sex-acts/

MTV Show “Teen Mom 2? Will Show Young Woman’s AbortionPro-life people have frequently said that if an abortion is ever shown on television that it would change millions of minds against abortion. Now, MTV is doing just that: filming one of its reality show stars having an abortion.
With MTV at the helm, the abortion will likely be sanitized and shown as nothing more than a routine medical procedure — which will make it less likely to have much of an impact on abortion attitude or opinion. Further complicating the issue is the fact that Teen Mom 2?s trouble-plagued star Jenelle Evans is defending her decision to have an abortion. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/01/16/mtv-show-teen-mom-2-will-show-young-womans-abortion/

29-Year-Old Woman’s Beautiful Answer to “Why are You STILL a Virgin?”
Twenty-nine-year-old Mandy Dobbelmann is a Minnesota native who lives in Los Angeles, CA. Mandy is a singer/songwriter, music teacher, blogger, and justice-fighter who is passionate about the issues of sex trafficking, prostitution, and abortion.
I stumbled upon an article Mandy wrote,”Keeping Sex Complicated,” for her blog,”Forte e Bello.” The title of her blog post made me curious, and since it was floating around my Facebook feed, I decided to read it. I’m thankful I did. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/01/16/29-year-old-womans-answer-to-why-are-you-still-a-virgin/

How I Changed My Mind About Abortion to Become Pro-Life Abortion was not an issue that I had ever imagined I’d become remotely passionate about. I am a bona-fide feminist with extreme ideas and boisterous opinions.
A sarcastic eye roll from me at the mention of anything that could be interpreted as insensitive to the plight of women is a good indication to all who know me that my soap box is nearby. So when I started working at a Pregnancy Resource Center, folks looked at me quizzically. And to be honest, I was just as befuddled as they were, maybe more so. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/01/16/how-i-changed-my-mind-about-abortion-to-become-pro-life/
The Real War on Women: The Link Between Abortion and Breast CancerHot on the heels of the new systematic review and meta-analysis of the abortion-breast cancer (ABC link) in China published by Dr. Yubei Huang last November and reviewed in NRL News Today in December, comes yet another blockbuster study from the Asian subcontinent.
On Christmas Eve, a study by A.S. Bhadoria et al. of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences—“Reproductive factors and breast cancer: A case-control study in tertiary care hospital of North India”–appeared online in the “Indian Journal of Cancer.” These new Asian studies are changing the game in ABC link research. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/01/16/the-real-war-on-women-the-link-between-abortion-and-breast-cancer/
Pro-Abortion Blogger Bemoans Decline in the Number of AbortionsWhen is a decrease in abortions not good news? Apparently, when you are an advocate for the abortion industry.
A recent blog post objects to pro-lifers’ contention that a decline in abortions in Pennsylvania is “good news for women” (“Pennsylvania Abortion Statistics: The Distorted View from the Anti-Choice Lobby,” January 14).
