U.S. GENERAL CALLS FOR ‘MORE TROOPS’ TO SECURE OUR SOUTHERN BORDER
The House Homeland Security subcommittee on border and maritime security held Tuesday’s meeting entitled, “Boots on the Ground or Eyes in the Sky: How Best to Utilize the National Guard to Achieve Operational Control.” Earlier this year, Obama reduced the number of National Guard troops deployed along the southwest border to a mere 300 with the focus shifting from ground observation to aerial surveillance once the technology is available. The number of Guardsmen deployed along the border was at its highest under former President George W. Bush who sent about 6,000 National Guard troops to the border in 2006-2008.
Nichols went on record saying the border is “still a sieve” despite U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s claims that the Obama administration’s approach to border security has been effective.
