“Moderate Mike’s” War on Women
In case you haven’t heard about it yet, a baker’s dozen of high-ranking Republican women in Nevada sent a blistering letter this week to Republican State Senate Minority Leader Michael Roberson and the Senate GOP Caucus over the “dissing” the boys did to the party’s only GOP woman in the upper house, State Sen.Barbara Cegavske.

Two observations:
First, the story is actually even worse than the letter details with regard to Sen. Roberson’s hand-picked recruits for senate races last year. While it’s true that one of the candidates, Mari Nakashima St. Martin, is a woman, she was actually Roberson’s second choice.
His first choice, announced with much fanfare at the time, was a guy who brought with him some baggage that apparently wasn’t known at the time he was recruited by Roberson. It was only after said baggage became public that the man dropped out and St. Martin was apparently the only other person Roberson could find to run on short notice before the filing deadline expired.

STOP PORK AND STOP UNIONS FROM RAIDING ANY HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF FUNDS
Dear Conservatives,
The federal government is currently considering an aid package to assist states impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Such efforts have been abused in the past to shuttle wasteful and unnecessary pork barrel spending completely unrelated to the disaster. Congress must ensure each dollar obligated for hurricane relief actually goes to aiding victims—not to political special interests. This means prohibiting any funds from being used to underwrite the inflated costs of labor agreements.
Take Action Now to urge Congress to suspend the Davis-Bacon Act to save US taxpayers millions of dollars in Hurricane Sandy recovery projects.
We must ensure the wise use of taxpayer money. The Davis-Bacon Act of 1931 requires that local prevailing wages be paid for public works projects. In a state like New Jersey, that could mean paying labor union employees more than twice as much for the same work that out-of-state employees may charge.

Today marks the first day of the 113th Congress. It also marks the beginning of Big Government's renewed assault on the Bill of Rights, specifically the Second Amendment and the right to "keep and bear arms."
Today being "day one" of the new Congress means that Sen. Diane Feinstein is dangerously close to following through with her December promise to push her unconstitutional assault weapons ban.
Further, if Sen. Harry Reid gets his filibuster "rule change" it will mean that the Senate can pass their gun-control bills with only 51 votes, ignoring their pro-Second Amendment members!
