Senator Dean Heller Looking Out For Our  Rights

I wrote Senator Dean Heller (R-NV), referencing my fears of SB1867 having passed. My concerns specifically address Obama being able to order the arrest of those he felt to be in opposition to his views.


Senator Heller responded thus:


"Some believe this provision provides the federal government the ability to detain any U.S. citizen without trail. I disagree with this assessment; however, in order to be absolutely certain your privacy rights were protected, I supported Amendment 1456 to the National Defense Authorization Act. This Amendment, introduced by Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA). states that nothing in Section 1031 shall be construed to affect  existing law or authorities relating to the detention of the United States citizens, lawful resident aliens of the United States, or any other person who is captured or arrested in the United States. In short, no law enforcement entity  in the United States can violate your habeas  corpus rights."


I accept Senators Heller's words and think the many political writers supporting the Conservative causes should as well.
