Things were cookin' in Austin yesterday with NE Texas farmer, Julia Trigg Crawford, populist Republican Debra Medina and populist Democrat Jim Hightower.
They were there to call attention to the Legislature's failure to address eminent domain abuse and the risks to our land and water supply posed by pipeline companies and frackers, because they're trying to skip a step -- full public hearings .Read Crawford, Medina and Hightower's to Dewhurst, Straus and Legislators here.
The press gets it. Read this hot piece in the Texas Tribune (including comments!). Hightower was, as usual, a truth telling hoot! Watch the video here (soon we'll do some short clips you can use doing your social networking thing).
What can you do to help? Ask your State Rep and State Senator to support the call for an Interim Study and Hearings. Find your reps here. If you're someone who is frustrated with your state reps, send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper and talk to your neighbors about calling for a hearing in your area. We will help you set one up.

TEXAS - MATT McCALL FOR U.S. CONGRESS 21st DISTRICT
Hi, I’m Matt McCall
I am not a lawyer or a politician. I am a citizen running to be a citizen legislator. I am a small business owner, a Christian and a father. I live in the house I grew up in, on Rosewood in Boerne. I dig in the garden that was my father’s; I read the devotional that was my mother’s. I go to work and show up for those who depend on me. I believe the second amendment protects all the rest, and principally, is to protect us from tyranny of government. I not only believe in the 10th amendment but I believe we should live by it and fight for it; I will do so in congress.

STOP THIS BILL! SHERIFFS ARE TO PROTECT CITIZENS
NOTICE of Texas House Bill 2167
Texas Rep Yvonne Davis, (D) Dallas, Texas has introduced HB2167 into the Texas Legislature that would remove from office any Sheriff or law enforcement officer who refuses to enforce State or Federal laws, or if they order deputies or officers under their command to refuse to obey federal orders. And it provides for the removal of any elected or appointed law enforcement officer for simply stating or signing any document that states that he/she will not obey federal orders.
As many of you may know many Sheriffs and Police chiefs around the country have begun speaking up about the current attacks against our second amendment rights. Law enforcement people from all states are saying flatly that they will not enforce unconstitutional orders from Washington that orders them to confiscate arms from the people.

I received notice of this HB2167 bill from the people on the Constitutional Sheriff’s Club site.
I've done a very quick search on Texas Legislature and a link to this bill text was not hard to find.
Here is a link to the bill.

TEXAS - PLANNED PARENTHOOD 'ON THE ROPES'
Dear CONSERVATIVES,
Good things just keep coming out of Texas.
Not only did several new pro-life candidates come out ahead in the recent election, with the victories of Ted Cruz, Steve Stockman and others, but Texas pro-lifers have made another huge step forward in cutting off taxpayer funding of abortion.
You may remember hearing about the showdown that began earlier this year between Planned Parenthood and the Texas legislature.
It all started when the Texas legislature, backed by NPLA members and other pro-lifers, voted to cut Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers from the state-funded healthcare plan designed for low-income women.
While pro-lifers rejoiced, Planned Parenthood threw a fit and appealed to their friends in the White House, demanding that the funding be reinstated.
In response, Kathleen Sebelius, Obama's Secretary of Health and Human Services, gave Texas an ultimatum:
