The Tea Party: Who Are They, Really?

Barbara is white, sixty-something and writes Christian musicals. She told a mutual friend, “Lloyd is a good guy, but I disagree with his association with the Tea Party.” Shocked, our friend shared Barbara's concern with me. I thought,“Barbara, you ARE the Tea Party.”

My friend Barbara is representative of the mainstream media's despicable evil slander of millions of well informed, decent hardworking Americans who love their country and reject it being transformed into a socialist kingdom in which government controls every aspect of their lives.

Who are these Tea Party people, their profile? When I first began touring the country on Tea Party Express, the attendees were mostly middle-aged whites. Many, trying to be “good people”, voted for America's first black presidential candidate. But, as Obama began implementing his big government socialist agenda, they realized their error.

I was one of probably five blacks in America who did not vote for Obama. When Obama told Joe the Plumber he wanted to “spread the wealth around”, a little voice in my brain said, “Danger! Danger Will Robinson! This guy (Obama) is a socialist!”

Something incredible is happening and I have a plea to all those original Tea Party activists and remaining Tea Party groups.....Don't let them wear you down, not even the people who did it from our own team! 

We've been brutally smeared for years and it's taken a toll on all of us, but THAT'S WHY THEY DO IT.  The establishment wants you to quit.  They want you to get so frustrated with the pettiness, insults, and personal attacks that you forget all about why you got involved in the first place and join the bitch fest.  You don't have to buy into it. 

I am personally reaching out to all of you who once rallied to the principles of limited government, personal responsibility, and fiscal sanity with so much enthusiasm, please take a moment to reflect on how awesome you felt watching the movement take off in 2009 and what a relief it was to see so many people who shared your concerns.  The experience changed my life and opened my eyes. The corruption and intrusion was far worse than I ever imagined but the principles and values renewed my faith in American exceptionalism.

On August 7, 2012, The Washington Times ran an editorial entitled, “The Civil War of 2016.” It begins, “Imagine Tea Party extremists seizing control of a South Carolina town and the Army being sent in to crush the rebellion. This farcical vision is now part of the discussion in professional military circles.

 

“At issue is an article in the respected Small Wars Journal titled ‘Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A “Vision” of the Future.’ It was written by retired Army Col. Kevin Benson of the Army’s University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and Jennifer Weber, a Civil War expert at the University of Kansas. It posits an ‘extremist militia motivated by the goals of the “tea party” movement’ seizing control of Darlington, S.C., in 2016, ‘occupying City Hall, disbanding the city council and placing the mayor under house arrest.’ The rebels set up checkpoints on Interstate 95 and Interstate 20 looking for illegal aliens. It’s a cartoonish and needlessly provocative scenario.

 

“The article is a choppy patchwork of doctrinal jargon and liberal nightmare. The authors make a quasi-legal case for military action and then apply the Army’s Operating Concept 2016-2028 to the situation. They write bloodlessly that ‘once it is put into play, Americans will expect the military to execute without pause and as professionally as if it were acting overseas.’ They claim that ‘the Army cannot disappoint the American people, especially in such a moment,’ not pausing to consider that using such efficient, deadly force against U.S. citizens would create a monumental political backlash and severely erode government legitimacy.”

Washington Can't Ignore the Tea Party

Dear Conservative,

As you know, the Senate has failed to pass a budget resolution for three years running. Now they won't even let the American people do the job for them.

This afternoon, 200 FreedomWorks members and representatives from tea party groups across the country met in the Russell Senate Office building to formally present our plan to balance the federal budget and cut $9.7 trillion in spending over the next 10 years. Unfortunately, it seems like the only thing Washington wants to hear is excuses.

The Democrats who run the Senate Rules Committee were so afraid of the tea party plan to balance the federal budget that they ordered committee staff to remove the microphones we had set up for the event while Capitol Police blocked the doors of our hearing room, which had been reserved by Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) specifically for this event more than two weeks ago. At the same time, a "suspicious package" was reported in the room next door and all visitors and staff were barred from the area.

As I left the store, a blue shirted elderly woman sporting a warm smile said, “Thank you for shopping at Walmart.”.For some reason, it struck me, “Wow, all this was started by one man, Sam Walton”.

I caught a bit of the Walmart story while flipping through the channels a few days earlier. Walton's wife said, “We were finally out of debt and living comfortably. But, that was not enough for Sam. He had an idea for a new store”.

A businessman on the TV program said, “I liked Sam. So, when he showed me his new store, I leveled with him. I said it was the worst store I had even seen and could never work. Thank God Sam did not listen to me”.
