Dear Conservatives,
We've struck a chord.
We've always been ridiculed and maligned by the radical Left. We're tough. We can take it.
But the name-calling and mud-slinging have reached a new crescendo - our Biblical stand on one-man/one-woman marriage has earned Concerned Women for America (CWA) a new distinction with one liberal organization: "Hate group."
Another organization, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) - a self-described "civil rights organization dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry" - has named CWA as one of "a dozen major groups [that] help drive the Religious Right's anti-gay crusade."
They call our values - your values - "demonizing propaganda."
Here's the real problem. Last year, one individual acknowledged that he intended to kill as many people as possible during a shooting at the Family Research Council (FRC). He also planned to target other organizations that oppose gay marriage if he wasn't stopped. FRC later released a statement blaming the shooting in part on the SPLC's labeling FRC a "hate group."
And the anti-CWA crusade has taken it one threatening step further - publishing our address and my personal information and encouraging their members to "contact, call, or visit Penny Nance in person." (After labeling me a "toxic cancer that needs to be removed.")
Who's spewing hate here?
I tell you this for two reasons:
