To 'immigrate' is to: : to enter and usually become established; especially : to come into a country of which one is not a native for permanent residence.

To be an Immigrant is to leave one's place of citizenship and gain admittance, legally, to a country to whose government accepts one and to assimilate into that country's culture.

By these definitions there can be no Illegal Immigrants.

Now, look at the word, 'alien,' : relating, belonging, or owing allegiance to another country or government.

If you choose to remain uneducated you may use the term Illegal Immigrant to describe a person who has chosen to enter a country illegally, but the correct description of such a person is Illegal Alien.
