Incredibly, no one who writes about 'immigrants' ever mentions that Mexico has about half the unemployment as the US and twice the economic growth rate. There is a racial bias in the media that suggests that living in Mexico is like living in the Sahara desert. That there is no food or water and that people can't find work there. It is a perverse lie that is perpetuated on both sides of the border.

This article, if it were in the least fair, would state the obvious, namely, that the US no longer has the economic power to satisfy the American dream, and ask the question: Why don't these people just go back and live in their country where there is still plenty of work to be found?

The current mass legalization of 20 million illegal aliens portends the onward march of displacing American citizens from their own language, their own culture and most certainly, their way of life.

A reader told me that we face “cosmic payback” or “cosmic karma” for doing the same thing to the aborigines of America when we slaughtered them by the hundreds of thousands. We moved them into permanent internment camps called “Reservations.” We introduced them to alcohol which addled their brains to this day as hundreds of thousands of them suffer permanent alcoholism. Instead of teepees, they now live in broken down trailers or track housing and watch American TV, which diametrically opposes everything in their ancient cultures.

We subverted their religion. We stomped out their “Great Spirit” and forced the Bible upon them and our God-fearing ideas of the Creator. We forced their kids into our schools and we obliterated their languages and cultures. While savaging some 522 tribes in North America, we called them “savages.”

1) Only in America could the rich people - who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all!!!
2) Only in America could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is black while only 12% of the population is black
3) Only in America could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner, the head of the Treasury Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means Committee, BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

Black Unemployment: Just Don't Mention the Immigration!

The Washington Post has run three stories in the last few days on the high unemployment rateamong black workers, and only one makes even passing reference to immigrant competition. As context, my colleague Steve Camarota has just published a detailed look at unemployment, breaking out subgroups in a way that BLS doesn't, and he found that unemployment amongnative-born black Americans is roughly double that for immigrants. And remember, people are only counted as "unemployed" if they're actually looking for work, so this isn't a matter of idleness. (Cato Institute open-borders gadfly Alex Nowrasteh has graced the report with high praise: "This report is not as egregiously and offensively wrong as usual." Practically an endorsement!)

Anyway, Michael Gerson's column starts off with an unexpectedly sound observation, identifying "the greatest single threat to the unity of America: the vast, increasing segregation of young, African American men and boys from the promise of their country." He lists a number of possible avenues to address this problem:
