BREAKING: Texas Governor Greg Abbott Takes Bold Action to Combat the 'Invasion' at the Border

Gov. Greg Abbott, fresh off a resounding reelection win last week over perennial also-ran Beto O’Rourke, has made a bold move in combatting the ongoing crisis at the southern border: He’s invoking clauses in the U.S. and Texas constitutions to defend Texas against “an invasion.”
This comes after Friday’s resignation of Chris Magnus, President Biden’s commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Under Biden, illegal crossings into the United States have skyrocketed; Fox News’ Bill Melugin, who has done tremendous work exposing the realities of the border crisis, has the numbers:
This move by Gov. Abbott indicates he has no faith in the current administration’s ability — or desire — to clean up the mess at the border. It comes on the heels of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testifying today before the House Committee on Homeland Security, where he claimed the Biden administration is “working day in and day out” to address the issues at the border.
“Secretary Mayorkas, do you continue to maintain that the border is secure?” North Carolina Rep. Dan Bishop asked, referencing a claim Mayorkas made before the Judiciary Committee this summer.
“Yes, and we are working day in and day out to enhance security, congressman,” Mayorkas responded.
Bishop went on to state that Mayorkas “denies reality” about the crisis, a notion with which Greg Abbott clearly agrees. Abbott’s order will see the National Guard deploy to the border, increased land and sea patrols, a compact with other states — even foreign powers — to stem the “invasion” and the building of a wall along several sections of the border.
