NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT

Dear Friend,

Bidenflation is ruining the holiday season. This Thanksgiving will be the most expensive on record, thanks to the Democrats’ wasteful spending.

I’m not thankful for these prices, but I am grateful that House Republicans regained control of the U.S. House. With our Commitment to America plan, we aim to do the following -

  • Fight Inflation and Lower the Cost of Living:
    • Curb wasteful government spending that raises the price of groceries, gas, cars, and housing, and grows our national debt.
    • Increase take-home pay, create good-paying jobs, and bring stability to the economy through pro-growth tax and deregulatory policies.

  • Strengthen the Supply Chain and End Dependence on China:
    • Move supply chains away from China.
    • Expand U.S. manufacturing.
    • Enhance America’s economic competitiveness and cyber resiliency.

Under our leadership, House Republicans will find solutions that lower your costly bills and put more of your money back in your pockets.

A Recap of My Week
Accountability, Not Amnesty

The GOP Doctors Caucus met this past week to discuss how political correctness corrupts medicine. There were many instances after the COVID-19 pandemic began where politics and virtue signaling interfered with saving lives. We had multiple treatments with a lot of potential ignored by the administration. Now Democrats are asking for “pandemic amnesty,” but we need accountability. I look forward to more of these conversations as we prepare for the 118th Congress.

Here’s What I’m Supporting

I recently signed a letter to Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Jennifer Granholm urging the DOE to work to accelerate the development of technologies that may increase the sustainability of the U.S. nuclear fuel cycle. Innovative fuel cycle technologies are economically and environmentally important to manage the U.S. nuclear reactor fleet. Additionally, these technologies may be used to reduce fuel security risks.

The letter highlights how adversaries in China and Russia are working to develop these next-generation nuclear technologies. Therefore, the DOE must ensure the United States is prepared to maintain its nuclear leadership by supporting this research and development.

Update from the IRS

The Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service announced the expansion of one of their programs for approving retirement plans. The IRS will now allow 403(b) retirement plans used by certain public schools, churches, and charities to use the same individually designed retirement plan determination letter program currently used by qualified retirement plans.

A veteran recently contacted my office when they could not schedule an appointment with their Primary Care Physician for almost three months. Our nation’s heroes deserve access to care, and their needs cannot and should not be postponed. Therefore, we worked with the Department of Veterans Affairs to schedule an appointment for the following week so the veteran could promptly see a doctor.
