On Friday, Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) and I, along with U.S. Representatives Scott Franklin (R-FL), Al Lawson (D-FL), Daniel Webster (R-FL), Carlos Giménez (R-FL), Greg Steube (R-FL), Stephanie Murphy (D-FL), Brian Mast (R-FL), Neal Dunn (R-FL), Kat Cammack (R-FL), John Rutherford (R-FL), Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL), Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Charlie Crist (D-FL), Mike Waltz (R-FL), and Bill Posey (R-FL), sent a bipartisan letter to U.S Department of Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo urging her to reject a request for a Changed Circumstances Review which seeks to exempt certain greenhouse-grown specialty tomatoes from the 2019 U.S.-Mexico Suspension Agreement on Fresh Tomatoes from Mexico. On Tuesday, as Vice Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, I led Senators Jim Risch (R-ID), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, and Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, in sending a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to reconsider his reported decision to transfer terrorist Mohammed al-Qahtani from Guatanamo Bay to Saudi Arabia. On Monday, I  joined 59 lawmakers from the United States, Europe, India, and Australia, all members of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC), in signing a statement calling for the release of 47 Hong Kong pro-democracy politicians and activists on the one year anniversary of their charge and detention. On Monday, I joined bipartisan and bicameral members of the Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC) in sending a letter to HSBC, a British multinational investment bank and financial services company, inquiring specifically about the freezing of accounts of Hong Kong media and civil society groups, as well as restrictions placed on the accounts of American citizens at HSBC branches located in the United States. On Thursday, I joined  María Alejandra Requena on CNN en Español’s  Panorama Mundial to discuss the crisis in Ukraine and what more can be done to help the Ukrainian people. I also discussed whether Putin's recent actions qualify as war crimes, and why dictators in Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela chose to abstain from condemning Russia’s actions in a vote at the United Nations. Legislation Introduced

  • On Monday, I introduced an emergency supplemental appropriations bill to provide security, humanitarian, and economic assistance to Ukraine and NATO allies assisting Ukraine. Read more  here.
  • On Wednesday, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and I introduced the  Halting Enrichment of Russian Oligarchs and Industry Allies of Moscow’s Schemes to Leverage its Abject Villainy Abroad (HEROIAM SLAVA) Act, which would impose sweeping sanctions on all Russian state-owned enterprises.   • On Wednesday, I introduced the  Instituting Measures to Protect American Investors and Retirees from Russia (IMPAIR Russia) Act, which would prohibit U.S. institutional investment in Russian securities. Read more  here.
  • On Wednesday, Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) and I, along with Republican colleagues, introduced  legislation to ban the U.S. purchase of Russian oil. Read more  here
  • On Wednesday, Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) and I  introduced the  Preventing Usurpation of Power and Privileges by Extralegal Territories' Sedition (PUPPETS) Act . The legislation would sanction any individuals that assist in establishing puppet governments in Ukraine. Read more  here
