Tensions are rising overseas, but don’t let that negativity weigh on you. There are a lot of great things going on in Florida-02. Here are a few good news stories to help boost your spirit -- .

In just a few weeks, Pop Warner of Dixie County will hold their fourth year of spring training for the upcoming football season. And Donnell Teague is an instrumental part of that. Donnell was born and raised in Cross City and at nineteen, left to serve 11 years in the U.S. Navy. When his time in service was over, Donnell wanted to return to Cross City to raise his children and give back to his community. Donnell and his friend Justin Cotman started a Pop Warner Youth Sports Program for children in Dixie County in 2018. Read more here.

After nearly two days apart, Tallahassee defense attorney John Eagen was finally reconnected with his guide dog Hope. The golden Labrador has been with Eagen for three years now, playing the important role of his eyes. Workers at Mavis found Hope dodging traffic near the shop and they took her in. Hope was returned to Eagen unharmed. Eagen also said that it took her a few hours to settle back into the home but they are back to their daily routine. Read more here.

The Port St. Joe Community Garden has the mission of bringing residents together to help grow food for other people who may be struggling. In 2018, the Port St. Joe Garden Club and some community leaders came together with a dream: to start a garden to grow food and help feed people in need in the Port St. Joe area. The project had good momentum until Hurricane Michael and the pandemic slowed down the process. However, it’s now coming to fruition. Read more here.
