FLORIDA - JOE HARDING WEEKLY UPDATE

Friends,

I am so pleased to share with you all that has been transpiring with HB 1557. It's been a victorious week for Parental rights in Florida.

House Bill 1557 has passed the House of Representatives and now moves to the Senate. I know that they also will embrace this Bill as it will secure freedoms for Parental Rights in the Florida Educational System.

PROUD TO HAVE SPOKEN AT THE MOMS FOR LIBERTY RALLY ON HB 1557
Moms for Liberty is an activist organization made up of Mothers, Fathers, and Grandparents that advocates for American Liberties and Government Accountability. It was my honor to speak at their rally this week in detail about the victories for parental rights that HB 1557 will bring once it is signed into law. A great group of people and truly dedicated Floridians and Americans!

LIBERAL MEDIA ATTACKS ME OVER HB 1557
I MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT...
Liberal Media has taken aim at the bill by naming it the "Don't Say Gay Bill", as usual they have taken things out of context to make it fit their narrative.

Here is what my response was to Fox News;

"One, it defines that there are certain instructions related to gender and sexual orientation that are just not appropriate at certain ages and we define that as kindergarten through third grade. A school having curriculum that teaches gender and sexual orientation and what that means and getting into the weeds on that is just not age appropriate.

The second thing is that it creates a course of action for the parent who is dealing with a school district that has decided they are going to become the parent. They’re going to take your student that has anxiety and stress and mental concerns maybe even talking about self harm and they’re going to put them in mental health and take steps to change the services at the school and protect that student from themselves but never engage with the parent. That’s just wrong so our bill seeks to remedy that."
IS THIS PARENTAL RIGHTS UNDER ATTACK FROM THE HIGHEST LEVELS?
MY RESPONSE - KNOW THE FACTS BEFORE SOAP-BOXING YOUR AGENDA

I want all kids to feel safe at school, but that also has nothing to do with this bill. HB 1557 lets parents access their kids’ school records more easily, prevents school districts from adopting policies that keep information away from parents and — here’s the controversial part — the bill directs school districts — and I’ll quote from the bill right here — ‘A school district may not encourage classroom discussion sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels. That is kindergarten through third grade.

The bill is designed to keep school districts from talking about these topics before kids are ready to process them. I don’t think it’s controversial to empower parents.
My friends we face a battle every day from the liberal leftists in DC. They demonize a piece of legislation whose main arguing point is this fact -"Children from kindergarten to the third grade don't need to be taught gender identity topics, they know what they are already! The bill also limits a schools authority from thinking "they are in charge of your kids".

I want all our children to be safe. I am a father of four wonderful kids. As a father this bill is a milestone for parental rights that have been under attack from the liberal left. I don't know about you - but I believe in Family, Faith, and Duty!
Best regards,

Rep. Joe Harding
