SERMON - GOD'S POWER WILL PREVAIL

                                                       God’s Power Will Prevail

The hymn that I sing almost daily goes like this:

“Mighty is my God, Mighty is our King, Mighty is our Lord maker of everything.

All glory to our Lord, all glory to our King, all glory to our Lord, Ruler of everything.

His name is higher than any other name; His power is greater for He has created everything.”

When I sing this and when the thought it conveys is considered I often wonder just how anyone can doubt His awesome presence. I realize that faith is our blessing and the reason for our willingness to bow to our King but those who fail to believe choose to ignore the truth of His existence and, sadly, even mock us, the Christians who do believe.

What is even more disturbing is the spread of Islam, a religion that sees death to Jews and Christians as an acceptable occurrence and even a reason for those that kill under the belief of Islam to be sanctified!

In our Bible God promised Hagar, the mother of Ishmael, that her son would be fruitful.

Genesis 21: 18 Go to him and comfort him, for I will make a great nation from his descendants.

God fulfilled His promise to Hagar as Ishmael is seen as the father of the people that accept Islam as their religion. Islam has gone so far as to make the claim, ‘when Abraham took Isaac to the wilderness to offer him as a sacrifice to God, the true son was Ishmael, not Isaac.’

The absolute fallacy of Islam’s teaching on this matter arise as, it was AFTER Hagar’s departure, with Ishmael, that Abraham went to sacrifice Isaac.

If God had intended to have Abraham offer Ishmael as a sacrifice then it would have been written so as to erase all doubts. But, it is not and if we are true Christians we believe God’s Word not the word of any man.

God is all powerful and has made clear His Words respecting this life, death, spiritual death, punishment, and eternal life. He will not be bound by the teachings of Islam in any way as He is God and not subject to the carnality of mankind. His heavenly reward for His servants is eternal peace and should not be identified as a reward that offers sexual pleasures or the subjugation of women.

As the Title of this sermon says, it is God’s Power that will prevail, not the imaginations of man. For any religion to teach that God wants His followers to kill non-believers is indicative of a ‘man made religion,’ not a religion of God.

It is God’s will that man live a life in accordance with His dictates. The reward for doing so is life eternal. Those who have died will live again by His resurrection. That who do not live by God’s will, will not!

Mark 3:35 Anyone who does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.

Isaiah 26:19 …yet we have this assurance, those who belong to God will live; their bodies will rise again! Those who sleep in the earth will rise up and sing for joy! For God’s light of life will fall like dew on His people in the place of the dead!

Heaven awaits but it is God’s heaven, not a man made heaven. It is a heaven of peace and joy and not a heaven for the men and women who kill simply fore the sake of killing. God is very clear in His Word when it comes to those who kill Christians, in particular.

1 Corinthians 3:17 God will bring ruin upon anyone who ruins this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you Christians are that temple.

Another Word about false religions that seek to teach a Gospel other than God’s teachings in the Bible is mage clear and sets forth condemnation for those who preaches a false Gospel.

Galatians 1:9 I will say it again, if anyone preaches any other Gospel than the one you welcomed, let God’s curse be upon that person.

It is God’s will that we live in peace and harmony and treat women as they are; equals!  For any religion to teach that a woman is less than equal is abominable. God’s will is blatantly made clear that all humans are created equal. To make an attempt to say otherwise is an attempt to teach a Gospel other than one God has set forth.

1 Peter 3:7 …you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat her with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of a new life. If you don’t treat her as you should, your prayers won’t be answered.

In closing any religions that teach and preach any gospels that condemn or demean women and seeks to bring death to God’s children  are not religions that are committed to doing God’s will. God is SUPREME and any thoughts of man cannot be superior to God’s Word. He, and He alone, has the ultimate power and woe unto any that doubt that power.

(Closing prayer)

Almighty God, our Creator and Redeemer we lift our hearts in praise of You and Your mighty works. You have our love, our worship and our grateful thanks for all You have done and will do. We ask that You accept the love we offer and the prayers of worship we so humbly give. You are our strength and only You have the power to shield us from evil.

Lord, we hear strange religions being furthered that do not set forth Your Word. One teaches that we are to be killed simply for being Christian; another teaches that women are secondary to men and yet another seeks to supplant beliefs similar to Christianity, but is far from Your true teachings. Father, we ask that You allow us to discern truth from untruth and be capable of standing firm in Your Word and say the words required to prevent those weak in faith from falling to the wiles of the ravenous wolves that would devour their souls. Lord, we pray this with all the strength we can raise and ask that our words be heard.

Father, please protect our military, our elected officials, those who seek to protect us from harm and our brothers and sisters at home and abroad. Keep them from harm and deafen their ears to any that would lead them astray.

Touch the hearts of our enemies and bring Your light to their souls. Do this for any who You chose and know that we do believe that it is Your will to be done and not the will of any other.

We pray this in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who is One with You and the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever,

Amen, amen and amen...
