SERMON - ALL PRAISE TO HIM

All Praise

To

Him

One of my favorite Scriptures is Psalm 100. Since childhood the Words of this Chapter of the Christian Bible have echoed in my mind and in my heart. When I first began to sing in church services this Psalm rang true.

I shall type out the King James Version of this Psalm as, although the New Living Translation version is beautiful, the KJV really tells the tale.

Psalm 100 1-5 < Psalm of Praise> Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before His presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves, we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations.

If you dwell on this Psalm and really give it thought it is so clear as to all that it means. It is with one mighty thought that God lets us all know that He is our Creator and no man has created himself or another man. Though we hear hordes of non-believers speak out against out utter belief in God, it is with bold confidence that we do believe and with love that we offer Him our praise, our worship and, out hearts.

We hear the theory of evolution being taught in our schools and the creation of man, by Almighty God, set aside as if unworthy of thought. We hear derisive comments by unbelievers and those who claim, “There is no God,” as they seek to prove men to be descendants of apes and lesser beings. They provide examples by pointing out cave men, apes and animals that bear what they claim to be semblances of man.

You know, God told me that, He hath made us, and not we ourselves.  In that phrase God has revealed to me, and to those who have the faith to know that He is God, and He made us. No matter the hue and cry of those who deny this fact it is true in every sense of the Word!

For the sake of levity I shall tell you a little story of the scientist that claimed to have no need for God.

One day a scientist was in the presence of God and declared to God: We, mankind, do not need you any longer.

God asked: And why do you say this?

The scientist replied: We can cure most ant disease, grow food, make transportation and we now can clone and make other men.

God said: But, can you do as I did and create man out of the soil; the very earth?

The scientist replied: Yes, watch me, he said and dropped to his knees and began to make the shape of a man.

God said (with a smile upon His majestic face) No…Do not use MY soil, create your own!

That is a tale I have told to non-believers and they don’t like to hear it.

Folks, let me let you in on something. We are not an accident of the universe and we are not derived from apes or any other lesser animal. We are created and are in the image of God Himself and to say otherwise is blasphemy! Now, I do not know how God did it, the Bible says He did it in a day…but even if that day was a million years in its passing, He did it and I accept that and to boot, I praise and worship Him for my very being.

If anyone seeks to impose this theory upon you, simple ask these questions: ‘If man descended from apes, when did evolution stop? In short, why are there still apes? Six plus thousands of years has elapsed since man ‘came on the scene’ yet not one single ape, in all that time, has turned into a man. Not one!’

Now, God has created us and we are His people.

Psalm 100 (new Living Translation) A Psalm of thanksgiving. Shout with joy to the LORD, O Earth. Worship the LORD with gladness. Come before Him, singing with joy. Acknowledge the LORD is God! He made us, and we are His. We are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go to His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and bless His name. For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and His faithfulness continues to each generation.

If you ever had a need for uplifting of you spirit, just read this Psalm, either version, and I promise your spirit will truly soar!

(Closing prayer)

Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth, we praise You, we worship You and we raise Your Name on high. You are our God and there is no other. Thank You for all that You have done and will do for us, Your sons and daughters. Protect us from the evils of this world and assist us in our daily lives by keeping us vigilant to ward off the wiles of Satan as we call on You for our defense.

We are ever mindful of our weaknesses and ask that You continue to show us the mercies and love You have for us.

Father, we are beset by people that deny Your very existence. We pray that they will receive Your touch and come to be people of faith. Assist us to bear with them and to sow the seed of Your Word. We do not pray for tolerance, we pray for You to water the seed we sow.

Almighty God, as we do weekly and often daily, we pray that You will send Your angels to protect our sons and daughter who are in the military and especially those who are in harm’s way. Be with them and strengthen them. Father, guide our elected officials and instill in their hearts the strength to do that which is by Your design, not their own.

Protect our Christian brothers and sisters throughout the world and shield them from the dangers about them. See them to the refuge of Your arms.

In Jesus’ name we pray, who is One with You and the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever,

Amen, amen and amen.
