FLORIDA - SENATOR MARCO RUBIO eNEWSLETTER

Marco Rubio - U.S. Senator for Florida E-Newsletter

This Week in the Office of Senator Marco Rubio

On Monday, I released an 8-minute mini-documentary highlighting my ongoing efforts to keep Florida’s low-income housing tenants safe and to hold slumlords accountable. Watch the documentary here .

On Monday, I published an op-ed on El American focusing on the weakness of the Biden Administration’s ability to hold China accountable and limit the Chinese Communist Party’s influence in Latin America. Read the op-ed here .

On Thursday, I released a statement after President Joe Biden signed my Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act into law. The new law, which I introduced with Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Representatives Chris Smith (R-NJ), and James P. McGovern (D-MA) in 2020, will ensure that goods made with the slave labor of Uyghurs and other predominantly Muslim ethnic groups in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and elsewhere in the People’s Republic of China do not enter the United States. On Sunday, I joined Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez (D-NY), in applauding the Senate’s unanimous passage of the bicameral and bipartisan Puerto Rico Recovery Accuracy in Disclosures Act (PRRADA) Read more here

Read more here.

On Monday, I joined Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) in sending a letter to U.S. Secretary of Labor Martin Walsh to call for a full investigation into Amazon’s labor practices. Read the letter here

On Tuesday, I urged my Senate colleagues to support my American Financial Markets Integrity and Security Act , which I reintroduced earlier this year, to prohibit American investment in Chinese companies that pose threats to our national security. Read more here

Last Friday, I joined Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV), Rick Scott (R-FL), and a bipartisan group of our Senate colleagues in sending a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas requesting Israel be eligible for the Visa Waiver Program. Read the letter here

Last Thursday, I joined Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), Congressman Ralph Norman (R-SC) and members of Congress in sending a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra, condemning HHS’s recent reversal of protections for faith-based adoption and foster care agencies. Read the letter here

Last Wednesday, I joined Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and my Senate colleagues in sending a letter to U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo urging the Department to add five companies to the “Entity List” due to their roles enabling the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) genocide of Uyghurs and other predominately Muslim ethnic groups.
