This Week in the Office of Senator Marco Rubio 

This week, I hosted ceremonies in  The Villages,  Tampa Bay,  Estero, and  Miami to recognize Vietnam War veterans in honor of Veterans Day. The events were held in partnership with the United States Vietnam War Commemoration, which Congress established in 2008. I honored each Vietnam veteran in attendance with a commemorative pin. I also spoke with members of the press following the events.

On Wednesday, I released a statement after NOAA’s Coral Reef Conservation Program announced nearly $21.4 million in fiscal year 2021 federal funding for coral reef restoration, including more than $8.5 million for Florida. Read more  here

On Friday, Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) and I applauded President Joe Biden for signing our  Secure Equipment Act of 2021 into law. Read more  here.

On Wednesday, I issued a statement after President Joe Biden signed the  Reinforcing Nicaragua’s Adherence to Conditions for Electoral Reform (RENACER) Act into law. Read more  here

On Monday, I joined Senators Jim Risch (R-ID), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Ben Cardin (D-MD), Tim Kaine (D-VA), and Chris Murphy (D-CT) in issuing a statement after the sham elections in Nicaragua on Sunday. Read more  here.

On Tuesday, Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and I sent a letter to Abul Kalam Abdul Momen, the Bangladeshi Minister of Foreign Affairs, advocating for increased humanitarian access and improved living conditions for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. Read more  here.
