A Disaster at Our Southern Border

If someone asked you “What is the root cause of the border crises?” How would you respond? Keep in mind the question is “what” not “who”. I wonder if this will cause some confusion in some minds.

Congress came together in 2006 to pass the Secure Fence Act. Eighty (80) members of the Senate approved it. This was supposed to be the “end-all” for illegal immigration. Also keep in mind that 2006 was not the beginning of the border crises. But alas, this will fix it……………..again.

Senator Obama said in 2005: “We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently, and lawfully to become immigrants in this country.”

Knowing what you know now, would you believe him? Would you have believed him in 2005? Well, many did. His deception worked.

Senator Chuck Schumer said in 2009: “Illegal immigration is wrong, plain and simple…People who enter the United States without permission are illegal aliens and illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who enter the U.S. legally.”

Knowing what you know now, would you believe him? Would you have believed him in 2009? Well, many did. His deception worked.

Senator Joe Biden said in 2006: “Let me tell you something folks, people are driving across the border with tons, tons – hear me, tons – of everything. From byproducts from methamphetamines to cocaine to heroin, and it’s all coming up through corrupt Mexico.”

Knowing what you know now would you believe him? Would you have believed him in 2006? Well, many did. His deception worked.

These three (3) senators knowingly, willingly deceived the country. They already knew what lay ahead. Senator’s Obama and Biden in the White House and Senator Schumer was re-elected and re-elected.

Just another example of how far ahead they plan. Their deceptions in 2005, 06, 09 were just a means to an end. We are living through it right now.

Mr. Mark Morgan spoke at Hillsdale College on July 22, 2021 about our border (The title of this article). He was Acting Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection and Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He also served in the FBI.

According to Mr. Morgan prior to the Trump Presidency three things instituted the “catch and release” policy:

1.       Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008.

2.       Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Policy of 2012.

3.       Flores Settlement Agreement of 1997 and reinterpreted in 2015.

By 2016, the message had been sent and received that America’s southern border was wide open.

Mr. Morgan states that in response to this, the Trump administration NEGOTIATED the Migrant Protection Protocol, a bilateral agreement with “corrupt” Mexico more commonly known as the “Remain in Mexico Program”. This was another deception - A stall tactic.

According to Mr. Morgan this program ended the “catch and release”, removing the greatest incentive for people to try to enter the U.S. illegally. Was this your response to the “root cause” question at the beginning? I bet it wasn’t.

Mr. Morgan is flat out wrong. This was not / is not the greatest incentive. Under the program, people illegally entering or being smuggled into the U.S. with a minor would no longer be able to stay simply by asking for asylum. So what stopped illegal immigration? NOTHING! Nothing stopped and the flow continued.

This deceptive program did NOTHING to curtail illegal immigration. It was all a deception to appease American citizens and especially Trump supporters.

Mr. Morgan claims that this program dramatically reduced the flow of illegal immigration. Thus, he says “It was a big victory for the rule of law.” REALLY? It was reduced, not stopped.

Then Mr. Morgan starts delving into the root cause – economic, poverty, underdevelopment, climate change. He says again that the root cause is the “catch and release” policy. NO, IT IS NOT. He also says that the root cause is because our policies changed. NO, IT IS NOT.

Due to Mr. Morgan’s background and time served, I believe he’s a little biased. Okay, maybe a lot biased.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said on March 21: “Our message has been straightforward – the border is closed.”  REALLY? So what has been done about it? NOTHING.

So what is the ROOT CAUSE? Through the decades the root cause has been stated over and over again on this issue. Mr. Morgan should know better.

For anyone that truly wants to STOP illegal immigration, CLOSE THE BORDER. Padlock the border. Anything short of this means NOTHING. Negotiations will not work. Agreements will not work. Now, enforce the RULE OF LAW.
