Saints and sinners; HALOS "then and now"

Submitted by: Int'l Interiors and Joseph Grisafi Jr

You mean like this one? A nice white halo effect.

Or this one? It doesn't have to be a halo.

Or this one of Trump walking on water.

There is one more but I must have deleted it by accident. Trump is in a heavenly cloud.

So I guess you mean like these posters and pictures.

I don't know if you've noticed too, but quite often our "media"  will take photos of our political tyrants with their heads propitiously lined up with a round artifact in the background behind them.  These photographs are the same sort of hagiographic imaging used throughout Christianity's long history, where painted halos emphasize the holiness, sanctity and godliness of the saint who is depicted.

So, for example, we have all seen images o illustrating this "halo around the head" effect; like so...

Other examples, are similar halo-ized artworks portraying the visages of saints, taken mostly from the Catholic tradition with its reliance upon imagery

to bridge the gap between Heaven and Earth.

Here, we see an early mosaic depiction of St. Paul, halo included:

Likewise, at a later time, we have this halo-ized version of St. Francis of Assisi

So, those are just a few examples of halo-izing religious characters

to show their special status among us UN-haloized folks.  After all,

who among us merits such lofty iconography?

But these days, we have a new religion, albeit one without any connection to the Divine

....a secular political theology.....replete with a  more contemporary (but similar) imagery as the old saintly painting; that is, the rise of the sainted political class. The (alleged) US "media" documents the high priests and priestesses of this new theology  by recreating the "halo effect" -- this time, using photography and lining up the saint with a round seal or shape in the background of the "saint."   This is done, I believe, quite deliberately in order to appeal to the leftist worshippers of this cancel culture cult.

It is not done for well known leaders of the opponents of cancel culture.  You will not see tje likenesses of Mitch McConnell or Trump or Cruz or Paul or anyone on the right with halos around their heads because they are not members of this 21st Century "church."

To make this clear, a simple internet search will reveal seemingly endless images of halo-ized Democrat politicians accorded the same halos that Jesus and Chrtisian saints wore.

Here are a few examples of our modern day gallery of political "saints"

.......and of course, this new religion needs a new GOD to worship; halo and all.....

So, it appears we have come full circle.

Atheists can now worship the Divine !

Armed with this knowledge, you can now separate

the saints from the sinners ðŸ˜Š
