Dear Friend, It’s National Hydration Day! Proper hydration is imperative to living a healthy lifestyle. The hotter temperatures make staying hydrated even more important. So, grab some water and check out some of the good news from our district below -- | The Buddy Ward Memorial Reef is set to be deployed soon roughly 8 miles into the Gulf south of the Bob Sikes Cut on the western end of St. George Island. It commemorates Buddy Ward, a longtime commercial fisherman who died in 2006. He and his family have operated Buddy Ward and Sons 13 Mile Seafood and Trucking Company since 1957. This is the first addition in state waters in nearly two decades. Read more here. | B5 Quality Services Inc. in Panama City was recently awarded a $5,000 microloan through the Corner Stone Trust, a joint project led by Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and the LEAD Coalition of Bay County. The mission is to revitalize the Glenwood neighborhood by loaning funds to entrepreneurs who are committed to providing services, products, and resources to meet the needs for community growth and development. This is excellent news for Glenwood and Panama City as a whole. Read more here. | Last Friday, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office held a “Summer Nights” event at Five Points Elementary School. The event had deputies, students, and others playing corn hole, Connect Four, and chomping on free popcorn, SnoCones, potato chips, hot dogs, and drinks. The Summer Nights program will end on Friday, July 9. The events and their activities are free. This is such a great idea and I hope to see more of this in our district!
