BIDEN PLANS TO INCREASE IMMIGRATION TO ALLOW 37 MILLION INTO U.S.A.!!!

 Submitted by: D Johnson

A 46-page draft blueprint obtained by The New York Times maps out the Biden administration's plans to significantly expand the legal immigration system..."

Yesterday, while Americans were observing Memorial Day, Michael D. Shear and Zolan Kanno-Youngs were publishing a big immigration update under the headline "Biden Aims to Rebuild and Expand Legal Immigration".

Comments on the story are already closed, but you can still up-vote the ones you agree with if you have a NYT subscription.

The top "Readers Picks" comment (from "Peaceman" in New York) articulately savages The Times for poor journalism... in spite of the fact that Peaceman identifies as sympathetic to the more-immigration perspective:

It is unfortunate that on many issues NYT non longer distinguishes between news and opinion pieces. In this unnecessarily long article one fails to get a comprehensive summary that actually includes all the proposals and contrasts them, point by point to the status quo. A clear, brief explanation of precisely what legal venues Biden has to enact this policy (legislation vs. executive orders etc.) and the advantages and perils of each would have been a nice bonus. That would have sufficed. Opinion pieces could then follow, as well as interviews with people possibly effected etc. Instead we have a verbose, emotion-filled piece of overblown rhetoric that is aimed at preaching to the choir while providing only very few nuggets of actual new facts, not reported clearly at all and well hidden within the ocean of pontification. I happen to agree with the authors' point of view on this but it is entirely besides the point. This is not news journalism, nor is this an opinion piece honestly making a cogent argument. In fact this is hardly journalism at all.

There are a number of questionable assertions and framing in the story, including a patently false claim that "surveys show that most Americans support increased immigration." (Even PolitiFact has begrudgingly admitted that there's some truth to noting that polling supports decreasing immigration.)

Nevertheless, I strongly encourage you to read more of the top "Readers Picks" comments, as most of them are opposed to the idea that increasing immigration is good policy.

And that's exactly the epicenter of the debate: LESS immigration or MORE immigration. That's why it's so important to have (even biased) reporting centering on that question.

As always, we at NumbersUSA have been closely tracking and pushing back against numerical increases. We also share the specific details of our work, like this chart explaining - line by line - the expansion proposed by President Biden's legislative push on immigration... which would issue a staggering 37 MILLION green cards to be given out in the next 10 yearsCheck out our one-minute video on it!

As Roy mentioned to these reporters:

"The number one job for the immigration services is to make sure that immigration does not hurt Americans," said Roy Beck, the founder of NumbersUSA, a group dedicated to far lower levels of legal immigration.

Thank you for all that you do to advance this cause.
