| Fellow Conservative, My name is Alek Skarlatos and I'm asking for just a couple moments of your time today as I work to re-introduce myself to conservatives around the nation. I had just finished serving our great nation in Afghanistan when I decided to take a vacation with my two childhood friends in Europe during 2015. We were traveling on a Paris-bound train when an Islamic terrorist armed with a gun, a jar of gasoline, and 270 rounds of ammunition attempted to take over our train and kill us all. As a soldier, I was trained to take out a terrorist threat - as an American, I was taught to stand up for freedom no matter where I was in the world. Which is why along with my friends and other brave travelers took the action needed to stop the terrorist that day. Last year I ran for Congress because, like a lot of you reading this email, my congressman lost touch with reality long ago. My life changed the day my friends and I took on Islamic terrorism, and since then I've made a habit of standing up and speaking out when I know there is a need. Recently, I launched my second campaign for Congress and I need your help to fill our campaign accounts which we were forced to empty entirely last fall.
Republicans are on the cusp of flipping the House – we only need a net gain of six seats – simply put, there is no way I can't sit on the sidelines and not do my part, so I'm challenging Peter DeFazio once again. Will you please consider a gift of $5, $10, $25, or even $100 today to help me get my congressional campaign off the ground? Right now I have $1,000 in our account, and that isn't going to get me anywhere. Following the events of that day on the Paris-bound train, the President awarded me the United States Army's Soldier's Medal, and the events of that fateful day were later retold in the film The 15:17 to Paris, directed by Clint Eastwood.  But I didn’t do what I did to receive recognition – I did it out of duty. And now, duty is calling me again. I have seen the dangers of this world, and I have stood up for freedom in the face of terrorism. I know the strength it takes to stand up and fight for what is right - which is why I want to take on the anti-American, radical-Left in Washington. Will you lend your support to my fight by chipping in $10, $25, $50 or another amount today?
My Democrat opponent, Peter DeFazio has prioritized his Washington “values” and radical-socialist colleagues over the constituents of my Oregon community for too long. DeFazio has received an “F” rating from the National Rifle Association and he vehemently supports the outrageous Green New Deal. His stance on these two issues alone do not align with our district or with our country. I am committed to restoring conservative leadership to this district. Southern Oregon’s economy has wasted away due to the Leftist control of my opponent and his radical-Left allies. I am running for Congress to represent the loggers, veterans, moms, dads and families that hold the American dream dear. The constituents of Oregon’s 4th district are hard-workers who have fought to make ends-meet under the Leftist leadership that has only hindered them.  My life’s mission has always been to represent the America I know and love - the world’s bastion of freedom and economic prosperity. I am taking that mission and putting it into action by running for Congress, by fighting for my neighbors and their wellbeing in Washington. This will not be an easy road, which is why I am reaching out to you. I will need the financial support of every American patriot; every single dollar will help.
