It Doesn’t Matter Who Is In Power, “Gun Grabbers” Are Always Working To Eliminate Your Right To Bear Arms…

Biden's imaginary "gun control" aims to seize your firearms

Dear Black Bag Confidential Reader,

As you’re aware, the Biden administration is saber rattling about more draconian gun control...

They've let criminals and thugs run wild, robbing, looting, burning, assaulting and shooting citizens and cops...

They've commanded law enforcement to stand down and let it happen...

They've sided with the criminals - marching and raising bail money on the off chance someone lifts a finger to stop the madness...

And now that things are spinning out of control, they want to take away your right to defend yourself.

To any sane person, their attack on your right to bear arms has nothing to do with stopping gun violence.

If it did, they'd be marching in the streets of Chicago - a city where criminals shoot rivals and innocent civilians in record numbers.

But no, it's not about stopping gun violence.

It's about consolidating power.

When the government has all the guns, then the population can be cowed.

So, it's worth taking a look at one of the measures the gun-grabbers are always touting:

The reinstitution of an "assault weapons ban."

Here's a little history on this useless piece of legislation...

The 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban prohibited the manufacture of semi-automatic firearms that were deemed "assault weapons."

An assault weapon was defined as a semi-automatic rifle with the ability to accept a detachable magazine and at least two of the following features:

-A folding or telescoping stock.

-A pistol grip.

-A bayonet mount.

-A flash suppressor or threaded barrel.

-A grenade launcher.

It also banned semi-automatic pistols with the ability to accept a detachable magazine and at least two of the following features:

-A magwell outside the pistol grip.

-A threaded barrel.

-A barrel shroud.

-A manufactured unloaded weight over 50oz.

-Being a semi-automatic version of an automatic weapon.

Also, it became illegal to manufacture, transfer, or possess, any magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds.

The law also banned copycat weapons that were knockoffs of specific weapons banned under the law.

Here are a few facts about the 1994 ban that you should keep in mind when you hear politicians talk about another gun ban.

Made-up words:

One of the many problems with the 1994 law was that it used vaguely defined and made-up terms.

The term "assault weapon" itself doesn’t have an agreed-upon definition.

Politicians like to focus on the AR-15 as an evil assault weapon.

But, the term can mean many different things.

They keep language intentionally vague so they can shove any and everything they want to ban into it.

Because the reality is that they don't want to ban "assault weapons," they want to ban all guns.

If it worked why wasn’t it renewed?:

A Northeastern University professor collected data showing that assault weapons account for 24.6% of shootings.

But, semi-automatic handguns were used at a much higher rate of 47.9% in shootings.

Before the ban, from 1976 to 1994, about 18 mass shootings occurred each year.

During the ban, from 1995 to 2004, there were about 19 incidents per year.

In other words, the ban did nothing to stop these kinds of shootings from occurring.

And after the ban expired, many gun control groups said they were no longer making assault weapons ban a priority.

Attorney General study:

Part of the assault weapon ban required the Attorney General to study the outcome of the law.

The study was conducted by three researchers and their final report was released in 2004.

The study concluded that the ban’s effect was small at best - but too small to even measure.

Evidence in the report suggested that any initial drop in the gun murder rate was due to other factors besides the weapons ban.

A study of handgun shootings found that 3% of incidents involved more than ten rounds being fired.

A 2014 book published by Oxford University Press noted that, "There is no compelling evidence that the ban saved lives.”

And let’s not forget lessons learned from banning alcohol, marijuana, and many other drugs.

It never works for anyone intent on obtaining these items. All it does is establish a black market.

That's because criminals don't care about breaking the law - they're criminals...

Only good citizens follow the law.

When the law expired in 2004 U.S. Rep. Butch Otter said, “It provided only the illusion of reducing gun violence, but it did real damage to our liberties."

I couldn’t agree with him more.
