Maxine Waters' mouth may spark a mistrial in Chauvin case

HeadlineJudge in Derek Chauvin trial says Maxine Waters’ comments could lead to whole case ‘being overturned’

The First take: As Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill so clearly stated, the comments from Congresswoman Maxine Waters may have given Derek Chauvin's defense team something that might overturn the "whole trial." So, why not declare it already? We believe a verdict is needed before an appeal can be filed. No matter which way the verdict falls, we hope other politicians learn a lesson from Rep. Waters. (We doubt she has learned a thing.)

China's new app let's you snitch on those with "mistaken information"

HeadlineChina Launches New App Allowing Citizens to Report Others For Expressing “Mistaken Opinions”

The First take: We were initially outraged by China's communist government developing an app that allows citizens to snitch on each other. And then we realized what China's new app is doing is nothing new. We already have Twitter and Facebook allowing/encouraging similar behavior. In fact, Twitter and Facebook might check with their legal departments. This looks like copyright infringement.

Cause of death of Officer Sicknick revealed -- it wasn't the rioters

HeadlineThe Media Lied Repeatedly About Officer Brian Sicknick's Death. And They Just Got Caught

The First take: Why did it take so long for us to get the autopsy results explaining the cause of death for Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick? Could it be the results did not match the narrative from the MSM and the Democrats? Does being suspicious of this delay make us sound like conspiracy theorists? Something here doesn't make sense to us. The delay. The media's silence. We're dubious.
