Israel is said by Syria to have conducted a series of missile attacks on “targets near Damascus from the Golan Heights and Galilee,” late Sunday, February 14. Most were said to have been “deflected by Syrian air defence systems.” Syrian opposition sources add that 6 non-Syrians were killed in the attack, which targeted Iranian arms and missile depots.

Military sources note that PM Binyamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Benny Gantz abruptly left an important cabinet meeting on Sunday afternoon, breaking off important decisions on the next two stages of Israel’s exit from the coronavirus emergency.

On Sunday, the Israeli Air Force launched a snap exercise to practice its readiness for combat on the northern front. Dubbed “Rose of Galilee,” all parts of the air force are focusing on the core missions of maintaining air superiority and defending the nation’s skies, as well as conducting air strikes and gathering intelligence. Drones, helicopters and warplanes will fly overhead amid sounds of explosions that may be expected across the country before the exercise ends on Wednesday.

Netanyahu has called together for Thursday the heads of national security and foreign relations to air for the first time the implications of renewed US negotiations with Iran.

He has summoned the defence minister Benny Gantz, foreign minister Gaby Ashkenazi and Mossad director Yossi Cohen to attend.

The prime minister is intent on bringing the government onto the same line ready for possible disagreements with the Biden administration on the Iran issue. He wants to make sure that all the ministers concerned speak with one voice, even though he and Gantz are at odds on this and most other issues.

For now, Israel is not relenting on its military pressure on Iran to remove itself and its proxies from Syria from which to menace its borders and halt constant build-up of advanced munitions.

Iran routinely attempts to arm the Lebanon-based Hezbollah with advanced weapons. Israel has exposed and thwarted multiple attempts by Iran to transfer game-changing weapons to Hezbollah, including by air shipments from Iran, through Damascus Airport.

Israel has significantly stepped up its strikes against Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria in recent weeks.

The IAF reportedly carried out a strike against an Iranian arms convoy in Iraq in broad daylight on Thursday.

In general, Iran and Hezbollah’s military build-up in Syria remains a red line for Israel. The IAF has carried out thousands of strikes to thwart the Iranian entrenchment in the war-torn country.

Israeli leaders have repeatedly declared that they will not tolerate an Iranian threat on its northern border with Syria and will take all necessary measures to ensure that such a menace does not emerge.

As the days and weeks roll by the destruction prophesied in Isaiah 17, and Ezekiel 38/9 inches closer to reality....

Mysterious Weapon Knocked Out Syrian Army Battle Tank In Southern Idlib....

15 February 2021

On February 12, a mysterious weapon knocked out a battle tank of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the southern Idlib countryside.

The battle tank blew up in the early morning hours after being hit with an unknown objectThe battle tank was situated south of the government-held town of Ma`arat al-Nu`man, way behind the frontline.

Opposition sources reported the incident, with some claiming that the battle tank was hit with an artillery round fired by Greater Idlib militants.

However, this high-level of accuracy is nearly impossible to achieve with unguided artillery rounds. The battle tank was also situated beyond the militants’ line of sight.

The battle tank may have been targeted by one of the Turkish combat drones which operate over Greater Idlib on a regular basis. Another possibility is that the battle tank was struck with a laser-guided artillery shell or rocket, after being illuminated by a Turkish drone.

Last year, Turkey’s ROKETSA revealed its TRLG-230 laser-guided rocket system. The system was successfully deployed against Armenian forces during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. The Syrian battle tank may have been struck with the TRLG-230 or a similar system.

The Turkish military maintains more than 60 posts, camps and bases throughout Greater Idlib. Heavy weapons, similar to the TRLG-230, are deployed in most of these positions.

In any case, the strike represents a serious escalation by Turkey and a violation of the agreement signed with Russia on March 5, 2020. Ankara forces engaged in a fierce confrontation with the SAA and its allies last year to stop them from neutralizing the remaining terrorist groups in Greater Idlib.

Damascus,  Russian fighter jets destroyed on Monday a strategic headquarters of the Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group - formerly al-Nusra Front - in the northern Syrian province of Idlib.

Three overnight raids aimed at a target detected by reconnaissance aircraft near the central prison in the western end of Idlib city, activists reported cited by Al-Watan newspaper.

They indicated that the barracks included an alternative operations chamber that was used as a venue for holding meetings of senior terrorist commanders.

The three raids neutralized a number of the radical organization's leaders, without determining their nationalities so far.

In addition, the Syrian army responded to the terrorists' violations of the ceasefire agreement and shelled with artillery and rockets their headquarters in the towns of Fatira, Sefouhen, Felefel Ziara and Ankawi.

The U.S-led coalition plans to establish a new military base in Ain Dewar area in Syria's northeastern province of Hasakah, in the Iraq-Syria-Turkey triangle, Asharq al-Awsat newspaper said on February 15. Citing a report from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the newspaper said that a new convoy of the coalition entered the Syrian territory last week.

According to the SOHR, a military convoy of over 50 vehicles and trucks affiliated to the coalition were seen crossing into north-eastern Syria from the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq last week.

"Trucks, carrying armoured vehicles, weapons, military, and logistical equipment, entered via Al-Walid border crossing with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, heading towards Al-Qamishli area," the Observatory reported.

"This is the 11th Coalition convoy to enter Syria since the beginning of 2021," it added.
