HELP SAVE MARYLAND 01/14/2021

Help Save Maryland - Maryland General Assembly Back in Action --   Annual Citizen Sellout Ritual Begins to Take Shape

Maryland

Get ready for another 90 days of "bliss" as the Maryland General Assembly is back in action!  Our elected officials began the 2021 session on January 13 (thru April 12) and already there are two bills, which if passed, will jeopardize the safety and welfare of all Maryland citizens.  And each will cost us a pretty penny too.

1- SB 0088 - "State and Local Government - Participation in Federal Immigration Enforcement" - sponsored by black State Senator William Smith (D-Montgomery County).  It is cross-filed in the House HB 0304 by black Delegate Wanika Fisher (D-Prince George's County).

Bill Summary -   It makes Maryland a Sanctuary State for illegal aliens and provides legal cover for our lawless politicians. Think Montgomery County already a sanctuary - overcrowded public schools, crime, MS-13 gang violence and a rash of underage female rapes.

"Providing that an official of State or local government is immune from criminal and civil liability for refusing to provide information to the federal government or another state for a certain purpose; authorizing the State to indemnify a certain official for certain costs or judgments; expressing the intent of the General Assembly to maintain community trust in Maryland governmental operations and law enforcement efforts by clarifying the parameters of State and local participation in federal immigration enforcement efforts; etc."

You can contact sponsors Senator William and Delegate Wanika at:

2- SB 0317 - "Office of the Attorney General - Right to Counsel in Immigration Proceedings Coordinator" -sponsored by Senator Shelly Hettleman (D-Baltimore County).

Bill Summary - It mandates the Maryland Attorney General's Office provide a Coordinator and resources for illegal alien criminals so they can have access to legal representation and education services while they are detained by ICE or other law enforcement. The AG's Office can request help from local alien support groups like Identity Inc. and CASA of Maryland.  Maybe Help Save Maryland can be designated to provide "services"??

"Establishing that certain individuals have a right to legal representation in certain immigration proceedings; establishing the Right to Counsel in Immigration Proceedings Coordinator in the Office of the Attorney General to manage services and resources in order to provide all covered individuals with access to certain legal representation; requiring the Coordinator to designate appropriate community groups to provide outreach and education services to individuals and communities impacted by immigration detention; etc."

Hearings for both bills begin Wednesday, January 27.  Stay Tuned!

Bill No. 20-18  "Frederick County Immigrant Affairs Committee"

There is still time to contact the Frederick County Council and County Executive and tell them you oppose this needless and costly Illegal Alien Commission.  Final vote on the bill takes place Tuesday, January 19.

HELP SAVE MARYLAND'S SUBMISSION TO COUNCIL:

Subject: Oppose Bill No. 20-18 - "Immigrant Affairs Commission"

Dear Frederick County Council Members and County Executive:

M.C. Keegan-Ayer, Michael Blue, Steve McKay, Jerry Donald, Jessica Fitzwater, Kai Hagen, and Phil Dancey, Jan Gardner,

Thank you for the opportunity to comment on my opposition to Bill No. 20-18, the so-called "Immigrant Affairs Commission".  My name is Brad Botwin and I am the Director of Help Save Maryland.org (HSM), a multi-ethnic grass roots 501(c)3 nonprofit citizens' organization with members state-wide, including Frederick County.

Our goal is to educate the citizens in Maryland's counties, cities, and towns regarding the negative effects of illegal immigration. HSM research and education activities foster public awareness and facilitate effective engagement between the citizens of Maryland and the legislative process. We are an effective voice for Marylanders who are frustrated by our out of touch politicians.

It's January 2021 and already the illegal alien support groups in Frederick County and the region are ready to strike.   After failing in court to end the vital law enforcement 287(g) program activities of Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins and his partnership with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials, these anti-American groups are trying a different approach.

With the help of one member of the Frederick County Council, these groups want to create a "Frederick County Immigrant Affairs Commission " (Bill No. 20-18) to understand, facilitate civic engagement and recognize and legitimize all things for "immigrants".  Access to and delivery of services and information tailored to "immigrants" is key.

We ask why are "special services and special privileges" needed for those with no moral or legal right to be in Frederick County, or the United States for that matter?

And these groups want to stock the "Immigrant Affairs Commission" full of illegal alien supportive types including: Businesses that rely on illegal alien workers; Faith and Community based groups who serve "immigrants"; Two actual "immigrants" (legal status unknown); Community College Administration types (who cater to illegal alien students) and; a Student with an "interest in immigrant affairs", will also round out this star-studded and very biased Commission lineup.

I just cannot imagine what this proposed Commission will recommend, can you??

This dangerous Commission is the very first step in formalizing a process and roadmap to create a Sanctuary County in Frederick.  Frederick County taxpaying citizens, if this Commission becomes law, will be forced to subsidize a tremendous influx of illegal aliens and their families.  Once given the green light, these uninvited guests will overrun Frederick County schools, social services, healthcare system and the service economy job market.  Just what happened in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties and Baltimore City, with taxpayers footing the bill via higher property taxes.

Green Card carrying legal immigrants and recent immigrants who are now U.S. citizens have no need for a special "Immigrant Affairs Commission" to look out for them.  If Frederick County's New Americans are unaware of programs and services available to them, the County Council should immediately solve this lack of information through outreach programs on TV and radio, and through email and postal mailings to all County households.

Most citizen households, who make up the vast majority of Frederick County residents, would appreciate this information as well.  The COVID-19 Virus Pandemic has caused economic hardship, social isolation and joblessness impacting every Frederick County family.  Council Members should spend vital taxpayer resources on helping all citizens, not the very few proposed with this dangerous, biased and unnecessary Commission.

The Frederick County, Maryland State and Federal Government already do a great job in outreach for ALL CITIZENS.  Moreover, despite false and misleading language in the Bill 20-18 Commission prelude, ALL citizens and legal immigrants already receive equal protection under the law and respectful treatment in Frederick County. The same even holds true for illegal immigrants when arrested and detained for violating our laws.

The sponsor of this Commission, Council Member Jessica Fitzwater, seemingly wants to help alien aliens and MS-13 gang members in hiding in Frederick and other locations, NOT legal immigrants.  Jessica must think that illegal alien = citizen and wants to spend our tax dollars, and jeopardize our safety, in order to make illegal alien criminals/gang members feel warm and fuzzy, and welcome in Frederick County.

Why Should We Allow This?

Why Should The Frederick County Council Allow This?

Jessica's real goal, as the front person for the illegal alien support groups, is to undermine and then force an end to the very professional and life-saving work Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins conducts with ICE via the 287(g) Program.  A program that safely, effectively, and most importantly, legally removes criminals and gang members from our streets.

Jessica seemingly does not care about the crime, murders, drugs, prostitution, rapes of underage girls, gang violence, illegal voting and national embarrassment caused by illegal immigrants and MS-13 gang members that we see in neighboring Sanctuary Counties --Montgomery, Prince George's, Baltimore, Howard (effective 2/21) and Baltimore City. Jessica wants to "spread this wealth" to the law abiding citizens of Frederick County as well.

In Summary:

-- VOTE NO on the proposed "Immigrant Affairs Commission" (Bill No. 20-18).

--Public health, safety and general welfare of Frederick County citizens will decline through creation of this biased and unnecessary Commission.

--No Special Services and Special Privileges for those with no moral or legal right to be in Frederick County.

--Support law enforcement and the rule of law in Frederick County, not some lawless, biased and frankly racist Immigrant Affairs Commission.

--If Frederick County's New Americans are unaware of programs and services available to them, solve this lack of information through outreach programs on TV and radio, and through email and postal mailings to All Frederick County Households.

--The "Local Government Fiscal and Policy Note" prepared by the Frederick County Finance Division on the cost of the Commission (less than $40K per year) is a joke on the taxpayers.  Substantial future costs that will be caused by the Commission are not being taken into account.

-- This is Frederick County, not Montgomery County!  Once this biased and unnecessary Commission does "its thing", it will cost Frederick County taxpayers untold tens of millions ANNUALLY in additional public school, law enforcement, incarceration, healthcare, social services, welfare expenses and more.

--Use taxpayer funds instead to help struggling citizen families and legal immigrants in Frederick County hurt by the economic impact, social isolation and joblessness caused by the COVID-19 Virus Pandemic.

Thank You,
