GOOD NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT

We are officially in the holiday season where good news and good cheer flourishes. Here are some stories to help get your weekend started.

Christmas lights have always been a staple of the holiday season. For David Price of Lynn Haven, his 80,000 lights have given the public an event to look forward to each Christmas season. From synchronizing the lights to a local radio station, to children’s hot chocolate stands, to local toy drives and more, David has given the gift of holiday cheer to his community and continues his tradition each year getting better than the last. You can read the full story here.

In Tallahassee, Storytime with Santa, Adopt a Reader event has moved to virtual this year as locals stay committed to reading to children during the holidays. Each month, the local Kiwanis club and their volunteers go to the centers and read the new books to the children. Since COVID, these meetings have since gone virtual. You can read the full story here.

Touching on more holiday cheer, A Bag for Hope has been supporting homeless children's needs in the Big Bend area by creating, sewing, and selling household and personal products to which all proceeds going to the Big Bend Homeless Coalition in Tallahassee. With 100% of the profits going to the Homeless Coalition, A Bag for Hope has brought relief and support to those in need. You can read the full story here.
