  • Celeb-packed "Times Up" charity spent very little on victims

Biden suffers two hairline fractures after fall while playing with his dog

HeadlineJoe Biden's doctor says he suffered "hairline fractures" in foot after he slipped while playing with dog

What's Up: Joe Biden spent the Thanksgiving weekend visiting doctors after he suffered a couple of hairline fractures following slip while playing with one of his two dogs.

Quote: "'Initial x-rays did not show any obvious fracture, but his clinical exam warranted more detailed imaging,' said Mr. Biden's personal doctor, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, in a statement. 'Follow-up CT scan confirmed hairline (small) fractures of President-elect Biden's lateral and intermediate cuneiform bones, which are in the mid-foot. It is anticipated that he will likely require a walking boot for several weeks.'" - CBSNews.com

The First take: President Trump sent "get well" wishes to the former VP after the story broke on Sunday. Biden's tumble and injury, while minor, will no doubt return the focus to Mr. Biden's age of 78 years. It will also reignite concerns that many have that Biden is one fall away from giving the presidency to Kamala Harris.

Trump: Election fraud claims "should be heard by Supreme Court"

HeadlineTrump Says Election Fraud Claims ‘Should Be Heard By The Supreme Court’ But Admits It Will Be A Hard Sell

What's Up: President Trump's lengthy interview with Maria Bartiromo heard Sunday on Fox News focused primarily on his team's claims the 2020 election results were altered due to massive voter fraud and the difficulty the president seems to be having getting traction for his arguments.

Quote: "'Can you imagine? Donald Trump, president of the United States, files a case and I probably can’t get a case,' Trump continued,  'and … we have hundreds and hundreds of affidavits, sworn affidavits — and it’s very hard to get a case to the Supreme Court.'" — President Trump to Maria Bartiromo

The First take: As December is almost upon us and the time for states to certify their vote totals is rapidly approaching, Mr. Trump's representatives are fighting battles on several fronts in a handful of states. While his "path to victory" is narrowing, there is still a shot and the president has said he owes it to the 73+ million people who voted for him to see this to the very end. However, it's getting bleaker and bleaker.

195 mil Chinese students are in schools, American kids, not so much

Headline195 Million Chinese Students Are In School. Why Aren’t Our Kids?

What's Up: American schools are struggling with the latest surge in COVID-19 infections with more shutdowns and the return distance learning. At the same time, a staggering number of students are failing due to the push to keep kids out of the classroom during the pandemic. Meanwhile, China has almost 200 million kids attending school on a daily basis.

Quote: "The difference between us and the Chinese is what we value. The Chinese Communist government understands that an educated population is key to global economic dominance, so they have prioritized keeping schools open, which the science has proven can be done safely." — TheFederalist.com

The First take: We are pleased to see Dr. Fauci voicing his support for opening schools. NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio is also reversing course and allowing the nation's largest school system to re-open. We wonder: Was de Blasio (a big fan of Communist countries like Cuba) reacting to China's example?

Celeb-packed "Times Up" spent millions on salaries, little on victims

HeadlineStar-studded Time’s Up charities spent big on salaries, little on helping victims

What's Up: In the wake of rampant sexual abuse allegations against many big names in the entertainment industry, a charity called "Times Up" raised millions with the alleged purpose of helping victims of the abuse. But an audit of the Times Up finances shows victims received less than 10% of the money raised, and instead millions was spent on salaries and luxury retreats.

Quote: "The retreat was dominated by agents from the Creative Artists Agency, who apparently had difficulty deciding on what the core mission should be. 'They pivoted from ‘Let’s clean up Hollywood’ to ‘We’re going to help all workers,' said an attendee who did not want to be identified." — NYPost.com

The First take: Frankly, we're not shocked by this news. What we would like to see is the IRS actually taking action against the people who subvert the funds intended to help victims but instead are hiring their friends, lining their pockets, and jetting around the world in the name of causes going largely unfunded.
