GOOD NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT

Dear friend,

With the recent destruction of Hurricane Sally, good news is more important than ever. Here are some of the top good news stories from our district:

In times of crisis, a helping hand from our neighbors is vital in getting back on track. North Florida Central Fire Rescue says that relief is on its way. Wednesday night, teams from Alachua, Clay, Marion, and two other counties, including medical and rescue support, departed for the panhandle to help those affected by Hurricane Sally.  You can read the full story here.

A big thank you to our healthcare workers across the nation! While the pandemic has caused several breakouts in nursing homes across the country, Cross City Rehabilitation and Care Center has been recognized as the only facility in the state to have zero COVID-19 cases. You can read the full article here.

Students and professors at Florida State University are developing operational procedures for public libraries during natural disasters through a grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services. This grant will focus on the response to Hurricane Michael in the Panhandle region, particularly in Bay, Gulf, and Calhoun counties, to figure out where the most vulnerable communities are and how to best support them. You can read the full article here.
