GOOD NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT

Dear friend,

This weekend take time to appreciate the freedom and liberty that comes with being an American. Though this year’s celebration will be different than those of the past, we are blessed to live in the greatest country in the world. Along with this reminder, here is some good news to keep you going.

Many gatherings have been impacted by COVID-19. However, the Independence Day fireworks in Panama City are still a go. Related festivities such as the parade and festival have been cancelled, but there will be three different displays staged around the city: Millville, SweetBay, and downtown Panama City. You can read the full article here.

Enjoy a later celebration in Apalachicola on September 7th, at 5:00pm. Though postponed, the celebration must go on!

The Wausau Possum Festival is also still on! Wausau Community Development Club will execute an abbreviated version of the 51st celebration with a parade, a commemorative publication celebrating the history of the festival, and a virtual Possum King and Possum Queen contest. You can read the full article here.

Music can heal a multitude of things. Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line recently donated 15 e-bikes to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office to help with maneuverability and enhance response times. Brian also pitched in a couple of years ago along the Gulf Coast to help the area recover from Hurricane Michael. You can read the social media post here.
