KIPLINGER & BLOOMBERG

Submitted by: P McMillan

From Kiplinger Letter for Dec 20, 2019:

... no recession in 2020...

... ongoing disputes with EU... WTO is sidelined... Trump refuses to OK the appointment or reappointment of judges to the WTO... preventing it from making rulings..

... House of Representatives... Republicans will win back seats in Nov...  Republicans holding on to Senate...  Republicans will recapture Alabama...  Hispanic voters... will be the largest minority ethnic group... 13% of eligible voters...  key states... Ariz, Fla, Nev, Texas.

Deep fake videos...  make a real person appear to say or do something they never said or did... made by nefarious foreign agents and domestic tricksters...  folks will begin to dismiss legitimate videos...

... Trump is likely to win reelection...

Cal, Texas, Fla, NY... account for a third of USA population and GDP...  all ranking among the top 20 largest economies in the world...

NY... economically stagnating industrial cities and population decline.

By 2030...  Cal... more people are leaving Cal than are moving in...  expect to lose one Congressional seat and one electoral college vote from 2020 census... considerable grayer senior citizens will outnumber children in a decade... Hispanics are the largest and fastest growing demography...

Texas... will only keep growing... 34 million by 2030, second only to Cal...  Texas will remain the youngest , with about 24% under 18...  Will Texas turn blue by 2030?  no.

... the movement of people from north to south as more people in NY and Northeast and the industrial midwest relocate to the Sun Belt...  for lower living costs and better job prospects... And out of Cal to nearby states with cheaper housing, lower taxes, and friendlier business climates...

Fla... a huge growing population... By 2030, 24% over 65. Older folks tend to vote strongly GOP...  Republicans will retain the edge...  GOP has done better ... in courting Hispanics... Cubans... Dominicans... a blueprint for Republicans in other states...

NY... high state taxes... high property taxes... ban on hydraulic fracturing... population will stagnate... a slight loss...  its power is waning... expected to lose 2 congressional seats (and 2 electoral college votes)...  after 2020 census... Democrats are sure to dominate politically, mostly due to NY city.... But Republicans may have an even stronger foothold in upstate NY... in 2016, Trump flipped 19 counties...

From Bloomberg Business Week for Dec 23, 2019:

... through Dec 17, the S&P Index gained 27% in 2019...  US jobless rate down...  Interest rates in Japan and EU have broken below... the zero lower bound...  foreign investors including Chinese, were pouring money into the USA because their savings far exceeded good investment opportunities at home...  a chronic, worldwide lack of spending because of the aging of the world society (lack of births)...

... the Dec 12 election in the UK...  Johnson's resoundingly successful campaign...  "Get BREXIT done."   ...  The result:  Conservatives have an 80 seat majority in Parliament...  a return to a time when wages were growing, shopping centers were buzzing, and the country was admired around the world...   the UK will officially leave the EU by Jan 31...  all with an eye to other agreements Johnson wants to do, particularly with the USA...  (like Trump) Johnson won his historic parliamentary victory by being shrewdly tactical...

Western Canada...  Taking cues from Quebec and BREXIT, some Albertans consider breaking away (from Canada)...  oil rich... seceding from the country...  "Make Alberta great again."    WEXIT....  an independent Alberta flush with cash, freed from the burden of federal taxes, and a booming oil industry that is no longer restrained by regulations imposed by eastern elites...  a roiling movement...  an Alberta freed from Ottawa's influence could forge better trade relations with the USA...  Alberta accounts for 17% of Canada's GDP...

My Comments:

Nationalism is sweeping the world.   Globalists lost.   As pointed out by Bloomberg a couple of months ago, 43% of the industrialized world are now led by nationalists (not to be confused with supremacists)  which is up from 8% just 2 years ago.   Country leaders are now putting the interests of their people first... as they should have been doing all along.

Since Trump was elected, liberals predicted that the USA economy would implode within the first year, that his tariffs would hurt the USA, that his hard stance on illegal immigration would harm the USA economy,  that his cancelling of 900 Obama deals/rules/regulations/executive orders would harm USA relations with other countries, that his tax reforms only helped the rich, and that he would be removed from office for collusion with Russians.  All of that was fake news.  All of it.

Just the opposite happened.   Mueller found no collusion.  The USA is now energy/oil independent for the first time since 1953 as the USA pumps 60% more oil than when Obama was president.   Jobs, especially jobs for Blacks/Hispanics are booming... 7.3 million unfilled jobs... record low unemployment... a record 160 million people working.     Wages are growing at a record pace, faster than inflation when Obama never achieved that.   And the USA is the envy of the world again as seen by foreigners investing 7 trillion dollars in the USA.   Trump made America great again.
