NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT

Dear Friend,
This week, I spent time in the district speaking with Enterprise Florida and Governor DeSantis. It is important to me to convey the legislative activity occurring in Washington, D.C. and also discuss ways to collaborate with the state and district to continue to revitalize the Panhandle. While working in the district this week, I was honored to learn that I received an "A" rating from the Susan B. Anthony List for my support for pro-life legislation. I look forward to continue fighting for life as I return to Washington next week.
Please read about my week below:

It was an honor to speak at the Enterprise Florida meeting about Hurricane Michael recovery, disaster tax relief, rebuilding Tyndall Air Force Base, and the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Enterprise Florida plays a key role in improving the economic environment in the state and they are doing a fantastic job at getting the word out there that Florida is open for business.

Revitalizing Our District

I had a great conversation with Governor Ron DeSantis on Tuesday night about bringing more jobs to the Second District. He is committed to working with us to expedite recovery and revitalize communities throughout Northwest Florida.
Fighting for LifeImage
The Susan B. Anthony (SBA) List, a national pro-life group, recently released a “scorecard” that measures representatives’ legislative records on life and highlights their leadership on protecting the unborn. I am incredibly honored to have received an “A” rating from the SBA List.

This Congress, I opposed all bills that would use taxpayer funding to perform abortions. The money you bring home should put food on the table, not fund the destruction of innocent lives. I joined my Republican colleagues to support a bill that would protect and provide medical care to babies born alive in failed abortions. I also stood strong against efforts by House Democrats to undo pro-life protections set forth by President Trump. I will continue to fight for the sanctity of life and support the Trump Administration’s pro-life efforts.

Constituent Casework Corner
After two weeks of daily phone calls to a Department of Veterans Affairs medical center trying to get a veteran’s death certificate signed and sent to them, the funeral home felt they had no other option but to recommend to the widow to call my office. My office contacted the VA, emphasized how unacceptable this situation was and requested it be addressed immediately. In less then 24 hours, the funeral home received the signed death certificate allowing the widow to focus on what really matters, honoring the life of her spouse.
